Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 370

Chapter 370 Knows Him Better Than Me

Two days later, as the evening sun cast a warm glow over the city, Mason made his way to Bethan’s office.

Bethan, seeing him enter, wordlessly poured a glass of water and handed it over. “Mason, if you’re here to talk me round, save your breath,” she said, her tone firm.

Mason settled onto the sofa, twirling the glass in his hand leisurely.

After sizing up Bethan’s expression for a good while, he finally broke the silence.

“Had it not been for Gwen stumbling upon the truth, we’d have been completely fooled. He clearly hasn’t moved on,” Mason said, a tinge of helplessness in his voice.

Then, tentatively, he added, “Bethan, for the sake of Fiona and Gwen, how about having a chat with him? Maybe spare him some heartache?”

Bethan, seated opposite, wore a complex look. “You were all gung-ho about my divorce back then,” she reminded him, her eyes fixed on him

coffee table to sit beside her.

“I want the best for you both. He’s in a bad way, and you know it,” he said seriously.

Then, trying to persuade her further, he said, “Hugh’s back in New York tonight. I know you’re not keen on being alone with him. How about I tag along? I’ll do the heavy-lifting, and you can chime in when needed. What d’you say?”

Seeing Bethan stay silent, head bowed, Mason let out a sigh and stood up. “No worries if you’re not up for it. I won’t push.”

As he reached the door, Bethan followed to see him off.

Mason stopped, reached out, and gave Bethan a light flick on

the forehead.

Bethan yelped, covering the spot with her hand.

“You and Hugh are two of a kind. I could shake some sense into both of you,” Mason scolded, feigning annoyance.

Bethan stood at the door, watching Mason’s retreating figure, a whirlwind of emotions swirling inside her.

Just then, Tristen approached and followed her gaze. “New

Bethan shook her head. “Tristen, no one knows him better than me. He’s a calculating businessman. He always weighs the pros and cons and puts his interests first. Even if he’s not well, it’s not as dire as they’re making it out to be.”

A man as self-centered as Hugh would always land on his feet, no matter what.

That very night, Hugh touched down in New York.

As soon as he stepped off the plane, his parents whisked him away to the Cavill Manor.

Harvey wasted no time. “Hand over your work and for treatment,” he ordered.

But Hugh refused without hesitation. “I’m fine. There’s no need to worry,” he said calmly.

Gwen couldn’t hold her tongue. “Hugh, just listen to Grandpa,” she pleaded, her voice laced with concern.

Hugh shot her a warning look.

“It’s just a minor stomach issue. It’ll take time to heal. I know my own body,” he insisted.

Fiona, looking haggard and worried, pointed at him. “If need be, your father will step in at the company. You must go to the hospital. Hugh, have you ever thought about what this family would do if something happened to you?”

Hugh was silent for a moment.

Then, he said, “Mom, there’s no need to fret. If you’re that worried, let Gwen keep tabs on me. I’ll eat regularly, take my meds, and go for check-ups. That should satisfy you, right?”

The air in the living room was thick with tension as Harvey brought his walking stick down hard on the floor, the dull thud echoing through the room.

“You listen up, Hugh. If anything happens to you, I’ll make sure the whole Olsen family pays the price!” Harvey growled.

“Grandpa!” Gwen exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief, “Are you out of your mind? What does this have to do with the Olsen family?”

Fiona could no longer hold her tongue. Pointing at Harvey and Ryan, she snapped, “Hugh is in this mess because of you two. And you still don’t see your mistake? Do you really want to drive him to his grave?”

Just then, a sharp pain shot through his chest. Without a word, he spun on his heel and rushed towards the bathroom.

After Hugh left, Harvey shrugged it off. “If I don’t push him, he’ll never listen,” he muttered.
