Loved the Wrong Sister
ELIJAH’S POV:
“How do I keep forgetting these type of girls are exactly your type and you never see the problem with them?” He pointed out as we arrived to the VIP section.
I didn’t pay attention to what he had said, I was simply looking for the beautiful red haired girl, “What’s her name and who is she?” I inquired when our eyes locked and she was dancing slowly and sensually keeping her eyes on me.
“Janet Jones, she’s a young famous model and daughter to the exquisite Jones family.” He answered giving me a drink and I took a sip while keeping my eyes on her.
End of flashback.
That night went by in a blur, we had danced for a second before she went to the bathroom with her girls and she returned quite irritated at my presence and announced she was leaving. She declined my offer to take her home or even get her number.
That only seemed to make me want her more. She was perfect through the lens of my eyes but I guess Kyle was right. And now and a few years ago, I had been slowly uncovering what was the problem with her especially after being with the kindest, and sweetest person ever known to man’s history, Hannah… My Hannah.

LATER THAT NIGHT.
I arrived at my house at a few minutes past nine hoping they would be wrapping things up but to my surprise, they were all merry, sipping wine, laughing and enjoying dessert.
“Look who finally decided to join us.” My mum announced my presence, turning everyone’s attention back to me and I smiled tightly.
“Elijah!” My younger cousin, Victor, rose up from his seat and stretched out his hand for a shake after I could see him mentally debate whether to go for a hug or a handshake.
I embraced him instead tightly and I could hear him sniffle. He had some issues which he had been in rehab for but my parents never ever talked about it and I’m certain even the Jones weren’t aware.
“Join us. I saved you a plate.” I blinked repeatedly so did Victor fighting back the tears and it wasn’t hard when I heard Janet’s voice.
I muttered a thank you and she stretched for a kiss so I gave her one on her cheek probably making her embarassed as her cheeks turned a lighter shade of pink.
“You’ve been so busy with work according to what Janet had shared. I bet you’re trying to get everything settled before you pop the big question.” Mr Jones pointed out in excitement like he was talking about the game as he had that same voice.
I chortled and responded, “No small talk? Just right into it,” I asked with sarcasm making him and everyone else laugh.

“Well in an answer to your question, I do have a question to ask.” I smiled leaning forward.
“You can ask anything.” Janet cupped my hand and looked at me with a bright smile. And I could hear my mother mutter, ‘Finally’.
I remained silent for a second hearing Janet’s heart racing.
“How is the search for Hannah going, or is there any search even going on because you all are aware I am still married to a Jones daughter, Janet’s sister.” Janet’s hands instantly left mine and she excused herself and her parents followed behind her.
“What in the world is wrong with you?” My father inquired and I kissed my teeth and shrugged.
“You can easily annul the marriage and start a new life with Janet who loves you but you still keep clinging on to that girl who is probably off marriage to someone rich and living her life or she might even be dead and buried. Do not let something beautiful slip out of your hands just because you keep looking back. You’re breaking her heart.” My mum advised, staring at me with disappointment and rising to her feet and my father followed behind her with his walking stick which supported his leg.
I was left speechless and as usual feeling like the bad guy because what if my mum was right. What if I kept pointing out flaws in Janet because I kept looking to the past when she had been by my side for seven years? Or what if Hannah was married somewhere and extremely happy and I was just here ruining my life?
“I need a drink.” I pointed out out loud and Victor chuckled and said, “You need more than just one drink.”
I laughed along with her and ran my hands through my face.
But what if she needed me to find her, so my life would actually be full of life and true love and happiness?
