Bride behind the mask novel (Marguerite) novel Chapter 699

Marguerite froze, her body seemingly refusing to obey her commands as she almost crumbled to the ground.

“Did you get Maurice’s DNA sample?”

“Yeah, got it last night.”

“How did you manage that?”

Frederick smirked, “I have my ways.”

Marguerite’s emotions were a rollercoaster. She hadn’t expected Frederick to move so quickly.

The man tilted the smartphone screen towards Marguerite’s eyes: “Take a look for yourself.”

In a flash, Marguerite instinctively shut her eyes, turning away immediately.

“I can’t look, just tell me.”

She was both eager and fearful of the result.

Afraid she wouldn’t get the answer she hoped for since she found out Maurice had supposedly had a vasectomy, she had been overjoyed.

But with high hopes comes the potential for greater disappointment.

Marguerite bit her nails in anxiety, but Frederick gently turned her to face him squarely.

“Some things you just have to face, right?”

Face what exactly?

Could it be that the results in his hand were set to disappoint her?

Marguerite glanced at Frederick’s solid arms, his broad palm clutching the phone with a sense of authority.

Regardless, she had to face it.

She took a deep breath, pulled the phone from his grasp, and looked at it closely with wide eyes.

“This is so complicated, I can’t understand it!”

Marguerite was trembling with urgency, then she heard Frederick’s indifferent voice, devoid of any emotion.

“The results show that Teresa and Maurice have a biological connection. In other words, Teresa is Maurice’s child.”

Marguerite’s head shot up, seeing Frederick’s face bathed in the soft glow of the sunset, looking warm and beautiful.

But Marguerite’s heart went cold.

Just as she feared.

One moment in heaven, the next in hell.

“Daphne lied to me!”

“Marguerite, does tampering have to happen on the spot?”

His insight cleared Marguerite’s confused thoughts.

Right!

Does tampering have to happen on the spot?

There had been a paternity test when Teresa was born, which had indicated she was Maurice’s child.

If the truth was as Daphne said, then the tampering had occurred with the original paternity test.

Maurice was known for his meticulous planning; it seemed he had influence over every paternity testing facility in Stonebridge City.

This realization sent chills down Marguerite’s spine, anger gnawing at her.

“That bastard Maurice!”

Frederick watched Marguerite, his arm wrapping around her shoulder in a comforting gesture.

“Chuck has already sent both their DNA samples to an overseas lab. You just focus on waiting for Daphne’s vasectomy report, okay?”

His soothing voice offered Marguerite some solace, and she let out a deflated sigh.

“That’s all we can do now.”
