Bride behind the mask novel (Marguerite) novel Chapter 766

As soon as Manley heard the idea, he thought Hayes was genuinely up for some fun and quickly chimed in, "If Hayes is going, count me in too! It's so boring at home!"

Jocelyn couldn't help but smile with relief.

Hayes and Manley were like a breath of fresh air in the house, bringing a spark of life to the otherwise dull atmosphere. She felt much more at ease letting them accompany Marguerite on her trip.

Cresthaven wasn't far from Stonebridge City, just an hour away by bullet train.

Marguerite arrived at the Stonebridge City branch of Poppy Petal Fragrances, while Hayes was glued to his smartwatch the whole way there.

His mysterious online friend was still in Stonebridge City, but the map on his watch wouldn't show their exact location. So, Hayes had no clue where they could be living.

But he was betting on the slim chance of a serendipitous encounter.

After all, only if such an encounter happened would his smartwatch alert him.

Until Marguerite finished her work, there was no buzz from Hayes's watch.

Leaving the office with the two kids in tow, Hayes was worried they might head straight back to Cresthaven. He quickly suggested, "Mom, let's visit dad and sis at the cemetery. We're rarely here."

The cemetery was on the outskirts of Stonebridge City, a taxi ride passing through several blocks and bustling streets. Maybe, just maybe, luck would be on his side, and he would bump into his mysterious friend.

The little guy looked up at his mom with hopeful eyes, only to see her saddened expression.

He realized his suggestion had brought back painful memories for her.

Feeling guilty for causing his mom more pain in his quest to meet his online friend, he sighed softly, about to give up on the idea when he heard her voice, slightly hoarse, "Okay. It's time we paid a visit."

Life had to go on. Her journey had been set, but she didn't want to burden the kids with her pain.

Manley, in his innocent way, took Marguerite's hand, while Hayes kept glancing at his smartwatch.

Despite passing so many crossroads, there had been no sign of his mysterious friend.

And now, in the cemetery, the chances seemed even slimmer.

Resigned, Hayes was about to give up, covering his watch with his sleeve, when he rushed to catch up with Marguerite and Manley.

But then,

Just as he approached Frederick's grave, his smartwatch miraculously buzzed with an alert!
