Bride behind the mask novel (Marguerite) novel Chapter 770

Marguerite's heart leapt into her throat at the sound of the teacher's anxious voice on the other end of the line.

A fight?

Hayes had never been one to start trouble, and though Manley had a short fuse, living with Jocelyn had mellowed him considerably.

Neither of the boys was known to pick fights, so how on earth had they ended up in a scuffle with a little girl?

Without wasting a moment, Marguerite ended the call and sped towards the daycare.

The forty-minute drive felt like it was halved under her urgent pedal pressing, and upon arriving, she dashed straight for the administrative building.

But what she found was far from the chaos she had imagined. The three kids were oddly peaceful.

Hayes and a little girl stood in the corner, arms crossed. Hayes was eyeing the plump little girl with a scrutinizing gaze.

She was about the same height as Hayes but significantly chubbier, almost twice his size, making her even rounder than Manley.

Her features weren’t unattractive, per se.

But her chubby cheeks squished her facial features together in such a way that Marguerite couldn’t help but find it a bit odd.

Yet, inexplicably, Marguerite felt a wave of affection towards her.

Could it be that missing Teresa so much made her heart soften at the sight of any little girl?

When the little girl looked up at Marguerite, her eyes were big and bright, her hair a tousled mess, reminiscent of a lion’s mane.

Instantly, Marguerite thought of Teresa.

Completely baffled, Marguerite watched as the teacher tried to contain her laughter, explaining:

"Hayes' mom, this is a first for us too. They had a little disagreement, and well, this little girl... she bit Manley. Right on his... behind."

Marguerite: "..."

What kind of bizarre situation was this?

Marguerite couldn’t help but take another look at the little girl, who appeared somewhat clueless, giggling and holding her stomach.

Logically, Marguerite should have felt upset and sympathetic towards her son. Yet, surprisingly, she wasn’t angry but instead approached the little girl, squatting down to her level with patience.

"Sweetie, can you tell me why you bit our Manley?"
