Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 286

Julian didn't answer. Desperate, she called Neil.

He picked up, but when she begged him to force the production back to a pre-recorded format, he sounded deeply apologetic.

"Ma'am, you've just returned from abroad, so you might not be aware, but Mr. Hale and Mr. Weston are bitter rivals in the business world. Mr. Weston holds no sway over his investments. I will pass the message along, but there's not much he can do."

Seraphina hung up, her last shred of hope completely annihilated.

Heavy footsteps echoed outside, followed by frantic pounding on the stall door.

"Seraphina! Are you done yet? We are out of time!"

...

On the live set, the tension was suffocating. Everyone was strapped in for the final countdown.

Sitting behind the monitors, Director Sinclair screamed at his assistant, "Where the hell is she?!"

The assistant, phone pressed to his ear, scanned the area before pointing wildly. "She's coming!"

Sinclair looked up. Bianca was practically dragging Seraphina onto the set.

Dropping his megaphone, Sinclair stormed over to them.

"Bianca, what is wrong with your talent management?! We're going live!"

"I'm so sorry, sir," Bianca placated. "She had a minor stomach issue."

Sinclair's expression marginally softened as he turned to Seraphina.

"Twenty minutes to air. Go over the flow with your apprentices one last time. I'll say this again: This is live. Do not make mistakes. If something goes wrong, the crew will step in, but you need to keep your cool. We are a top-tier team. Just do your job."

Pale and trembling, Seraphina gave a stiff nod.

Bianca frowned, noting the sheer terror still gripping the influencer. "Sinclair pulled strings to get the best production crew in the industry. Pull yourself together and act like a professional!"

Seraphina clutched the fabric of her skirt, her palms slick with cold sweat.

She had no choice. She was trapped.

...

The countdown began. Sinclair raised his megaphone.
