After the man-eating plant finished Consuming Gentle Soul’s body, a faintly glowing or materialized beside it.

Riley approached and retrieved the supplies from within. Most of it was just ordinary herbs-looked like he hadn’t scored anything worthwhile in this dungeon either.

Once the plant retreated back into the soil, Riley tried firing a few arrows from a distance, but they barely made a dent. Since it wasn’t worth the hassle, she let it be. She’d gotten the loot anyway.

A breeze picked up through the forest, rustling the leaves high above the canopy.

Riley didn’t glance back at the body slowly dissolving into the system. She stepped over the slick moss and continued climbing toward higher ground.

The terrain of this magic beast forest was shaped like a vast basin-the closer to the center, the lower and wetter it got.

Right now, she was on the gentle slope near the outer edge, so her view was still pretty obstructed.

Still, the forest was rich in herbs. Near a sunny patch beside her, she spotted a special variety of herb-hemostatic grass, but different from the common kind. This one had dark red edges around the leaves and a thicker stem.

“High-year hemostatic herb: Three times more effective than common variety.”

Riley stored it in her inventory, satisfied.

Then her gaze fell on the journal inside-still smudged with dirt and dried blood. She took it out.

It had belonged to a survivor named “Little Red”. The system must have dropped it randomly-probably by accident.

Being someone who valued every scrap of information, Riley swapped to her spear to probe the ground ahead and flipped the journal open.

She’d expected the typical stuff-maybe teenage ramblings or complaints about the apocalypse.

Page one: “August 1st, sunny. Got pulled into this frozen world for no reason. At least the system gave me a small cabin. All I had to do was gather firewood every day to get by. People around here were really nice. Everyone was even singing in the chat channel.”

r Riley frowned.

Gather firewood to survive? Singing?

She remembered her own brutal start: one flickering fire at the beginning, freeze if you didn’t chop wood fast enough. No one was in the mood for singing.

She kept reading.

Page ten: “August 15th. Kind of boring. Aside from the cold, this game isn’t so tough. Today my neighbor gave me grilled fish, and I traded him a bottle of water.”

Riley paused.

August 15th?

Chapter 141 The Bestiary

Two weeks in, and things were stil!… peaceful?

In her own Reginal 8, by day six the “Freezing Night” had hit, ghouls swarmed, and loads of people died.

She flipped toward the end.

Page thirty: “September 1st. The sky changed. The red moon rose. Monsters started howling everywhere… oh god, my neighbor died. The system said the newbie protection period was over. Why? Why did it turn so scary so fast? Are we all going to die?”

“This isn’t right,” Riley muttered to herself.

She closed the journal.

The timeline inside was clear: LittleRed’s district had a full month-thirty days-of newbie protection.

Her Reginal 8 only got five.

“The same survival game… so why such different starts?”

She looked down at her wrist, at the system panel displaying the time.

In her world, from server launch until now, only about two and a half weeks had passed.

But in LittleRed’s world, clearly over a month had gone by.

“Time flows differently.”

An unsettling conclusion settled in Riley’s mind.

This so-called “server merge” wasn’t just stitching different map pieces together. It was forcing different timelines-parallel realities-to crash into one another.
