In that moment of Riley’s hesitation, the Iron-Arm Monkey’s survival instinct surged. With a sudden, desperate burst of energy, it flipped backward and shot away at an insane speed, scrambling deep into the woods-moving twice as fast as before, as if fleeing a ghost.
“Oh well. Guess it just wasn’t in the cards.”
Riley sighed, stowed the sealing ball, and let it go. She could use the extra hands, sure, but she wasn’t about to waste time chasing what didn’t want to stay. Consider it an apology for roughing it up earlier. It could keep its freedom.
She brushed the dirt from her clothes, re-equipped the “Unlucky Fool” title, and continued toward the deadwood forest.
After walking a short while longer, she instinctively opened the “Regional Channel” to check the local chatter.
What she saw made her pause.
Before, regional channels were either dead quiet or scattered with occasional comments. But this one was buzzing like a Friday night downtown.
“Current players in region: 58/10000”
Nearly sixty people clustered within a three-mile radius.
And the messages rolling in told a clear story.
“BerserkRat: Everyone, tighten the perimeter! Don’t let it slip through!”
“FireMage: You lurkers on the south side-stop spectating and help block the path unless you wanna get wiped! If this boss breaks loose in rage mode, none of us are making it out.”
“Bystander: So this is what WarWolf’s capable of? They’ve got the guts to go after something that huge?”
“WolfCaptain: @everyone, let me make this clear-we, WarWolf, spotted the “Flame Wolf King” first. Anyone willing to pitch in ean have a cut of the loot. We take the lion’s share, you get the scraps. But if you’re just hanging around causing trouble… mark my words, after this dungeon wraps, WarWolf will hunt you down server-wide”
Riley came to a stop, squinting at the screen.
Flame Wolf King?
A hunt?

With this many players gathered, there was clearly a major showdown ahead-one that could decide who scored a world-class boss.
And conveniently enough, the heart of that so-called encirclement lay directly on her path to the deadwood forest.
“WarWolf…”
She recalled that arrogant guild from the server-merge channels.
“Interesting. Since it’s right on my way, might as well see what kind of show they’re putting on.”

Chapter 149 The Chaos Hunt
Up ahead opened a broad river valley.
What should have been a quiet stretch of woodland now rang with shouts and the clash of combat.
Riley didn’t rush in.

Instead, she spotted a towering redwood with a perfect view, climbed to a forked branch about six feet up, and tore open a pack of beef jerky. Settling in, she watched the chaos unfold below with keen interest.
Down in the clearing, over forty players were in total disarray.
At the center stood a wolf the size of a delivery van.
Its fur was mottled red and white, one eye burning crimson, the other icy blue. Flickering flames wreathed its paws and bushy tail, swirling in the wind-a magnificent and terrifying sight.
“Odd-Eyed Flame Wolf King (Lv.25 Area Boss)
“Status: Enraged”
“Level 25 boss…”
Riley chewed her jerky slowly, eyes narrowing.
No wonder everyone was going wild.
A first kill on a boss this tier might even trigger a server-wide announcement, not to mention the epic loot. But with such a level gap-could numbers really carry the day?
Survivors from other servers might not have top-tier gear, but quite a few had already class-changed. She could spot seven or eight just in the fray below.
The main force coordinating the attack was clearly the WarWolf guild.
“Squad one, hold the line! Squad two, flank and deal damage! Mages-where are you? Slow its movements!”
A burly player named “WolfBlade” was roaring orders, a greatsword in hand, his voice growing hoarse.
But things weren’t going as smoothly as he’d hoped.

Outside WarWolf’s formation, aside from passive onlookers, there were seven or eight scattered survivors stirring up chaos.
“Fireball-aim for their shield tank!”
