WarWolf and the other scavengers were too busy sabotaging each other for positioning to focus on the objective.

“Idiots,” Riley muttered, glancing/back at the flash of skills behind her.

If it weren’t for her high Agility and the stamina-reduction on her gear, they would have caught her ages ago.

“I can’t keep this up forever.”

Riley checked her stamina bar-it was down to its last third.

She pulled out her Wayfinder Scroll for a quick look.

The ink was pulsing wildly, the arrow pointing straight ahead.

“Target: The Deadwood Grove (Crimson Gold Mask-Ape Territory).”

“Distance: 5,000 meters.”

“Almost there!” Riley’s eyes sharpened.

If she couldn’t shake them, she might as well give them a proper welcome party.

She quickly pulled up the “Hustle Crew” group chat.

“SpicyBurger: @TartKing! You still at the monkey spot?”

“SpicyBurger: I’ll be there in about twenty minutes! I’ve got a world boss and a literal army behind me! Think your monkey minions can help out?”

An instant reply.

“TartKing: Holy crap, Boss! That sounds intense! Where are you? I’ll come get you!”

“SpicyBurger: Just listen for the noise. The boss is making a huge scene.”

“TartKing: Roger that. I’ll get the apes ready!”

Closing the chat, Riley took a deep breath and crunched down on an Agility-buffing cookie.

“Alright, let’s finish this!”

Her speed spiked!

“The b*tch is speeding up!”

WolfBlade roared, sounding completely out of breath. His armor was shredded by branches and his face was covered in soot-the result of accidentally taking a face-full of the Wolf King’s exhaust.

“Keep up! Don’t let her reach that forest!”

Driven by pure greed, the group pushed past their limits, tanking the Wolf King’s AoE damage just to stay on Riley’s heels.

Suddenly, the landscape-changed.

The lush greenery ended abruptly, replaced by a silent, bone-dry forest of blackened, twisted trees.

There were no leaves here, only branches that reached for the sky like skeletal claws, and dark hollows that looked like the eyes of watching monsters.

The Deadwood Grove.

Without hesitation, Riley plunged into the darkness.

“Roar!!!”

The Wolf King followed, its massive body shattering the deadwood at the edge of the grove.

The WarWolf tide surged in right behind it.

“Screech!!!”

The moment the intruders entered, the silent forest erupted into life.

Thousands of gold-and-red figures swarmed out of the hollows, clinging to the dead branches.

Hundreds of glowing red eyes locked onto the uninvited guests.

Any normal player would have lost their nerve at such a sight.

But WolfBlade just sneered. “They’re just Level 6 monkeys! Smash through them! Kill anyone who gets in the way!”

However, what happened next made him wonder if he was dreaming.

Riley charged right into the thickest part of the troop.

Just as the apes bared their fangs and raised stones to pelt her…

“Hold your fire! The one in front is a friend!”

A familiar voice boomed from above.

r

Perched atop a massive dead tree was a woman in blue robes, holding a jar of Exquisite Blueberry Jam and striking a triumphant pose like a hero on a pedestal.

It was TartKing.

At her command, the murderous apes actually froze in their tracks!

Not only that.
