Chapter 156 Payday in the GLove
Chapter 156 Payday In The Grove
“Loot the field!”
Riley leaped from the tree, landing smack in the middle of a sea of dropped iterns.

She snatched up the greatsword WolfBlade had dropped. Its durability was trash, but hey, it was Rare-tier blue gear. She could either fix it up or melt it down for a decent amount of refined iron.
“Screech!”
The Ape King scurried over, eager to please, and handed Riley a glowing Loot Orb it had scavenged. The monkeys couldn’t open these, of course.
TartKing hopped down as well, her face splitting into a wide grin at the sheer volume of the haul.
“Payday, baby! Guild players are literal gold mines! I’ve already picked up dozens of potions?”
With the last WarWolf member-who had tried to play dead-being hoisted up by his collar by an elite ape, this pathetic ambush officially came to a close.
“No! Please! Stop! I’m sorry!”
The guy was a blubbering mess, but Riley’s expression didn’t shift as she raised a hand.
Whiz-
A nearby ape, already itching for more, let fly an arrow. Its aim wasn’t perfect, but at this range, it didn’t need to be.
What followed was a very un-chivalrous, one-sided beatdown.
A moment later, another glowing Loot Orb hit the dirt.
Riley stepped forward, expertly scooping up the drops.
“Obtained: Refined Iron Longsword (Uncommon) x 1”
“Obtained: Basic Strength Potion x 3”
“Obtained: Ration Crackers x 5”
“Obtained: Unknown Pelt x 10”
“Obtained: Sealing Orb x 1”
Well, that’s a nice surprise.
She scanned the battlefield.

WarWolf had taken a massive hit this time. Their fifty-man elite squad was basically wiped out, aside from WolfBlade and a couple of officers who’d burned their high-tier escape items to get away. They weren’t getting much out of this dungeon run now.
The ground was littered with scattered bags, potions, and various basic materials.

Chapter 156 Payday in the Gove
“Alright boys! Clean it all up!”
TartKing stood on a high point, waving her jam jar like a conquering hero. “If it sparkles, I want it back in the hollow!”
“Screech! Screech!”
The apes shrieked with excitement.

They didn’t care for the gear and couldn’t crack the Loot Orbs, but they knew that following TartKing’s orders meant a feast was coming.
Riley focused on cataloging the high-value items.
While this counter-kill didn’t drop any legendary artifacts, the sheer quantity was enough to fill their boots.
She’d already picked up three Rare blue items and over twenty Uncommon greens.
Too bad.
Riley had sifted through all the high-end bags but couldn’t find a single Class Change Card. Based on what she’d heard about other servers, they shouldn’t be that rare. Most likely, anyone who found one had used it immediately. If she didn’t transition her class soon, her gear advantage would eventually be eclipsed by specialized class skills.
Riley looked toward where the boss had vanished.
That Variant Flame Wolf King… if she caught the stats right, it was Level 25.
“A Level 25 World Boss…”
It was a bit of a shame. She’d hoped to snag the kill once the guild wore it down to a sliver of health. A world boss like that probably would’ve dropped everything she was currently missing.
Can’t be too greedy.
Riley felt the warmth of the egg inside her Inventory.
The biggest prize was already hers, and this haul was already pure profit. As for the wolf? Once the egg hatched and she raised the pup, they’d go back for a “family reunion” eventually.

The sun began to dip.
The light in the Deadwood Grove faded fast.
But inside the main hollow, the party was just starting.
This was the Crimson Gold Mask-Ape HQ, located inside a colossal dead tree. The interior was as wide as an underground plaza, with tunnels connecting to smaller satellite camps.
“Riley! Check this out! I had the boys bring all their loot to one spot for the trade!”
An excited TartKing pulled Riley to a dry corner.
