Chapter 170 The Grinding Session
For the next two hours, the Crystal Rainforest became their private grinding zone.
“Riley! To the right! Three Iron–hide Boars! Level 9!”
“Copy that.”
Riley blurred, charging into the pack while under the effects of Blessing of Light.

The defense the boars were so proud of was like wet paper against Riley’s terrifying Strength, which was now far above the server
average.
“Power Strike!”
With one swing, the first boar’s skull shattered instantly.
“Cleave!”
Even without a specialized AoE skill, Riley’s high attack
speed turned her dual axes into a literal windmill.
In ten short seconds, the three boars were wiped out.
“Obtained Experience: 100.”
“TartKing!” Riley called out.
Because she’d charged in so aggressively, Riley had intentionally tanked one hit from a boar’s tusk to test her defense. She’d lost 22
“Coming! Lesser Heal!”
TartKing’s robes fluttered as a ball of light sank into Riley.
+20!
A green number floated up.
“Just a second on the cooldown, Boss. I’ll top you off in a moment.”
Riley checked her nearly full health bar and nodded in satisfaction.
TartKing was thrilled too. As long as she stood far enough behind Riley, she was in the safest place in the world. All she had to do was watch Riley’s health, toss out blessings, and occasionally land a finishing blow. Her XP was skyrocketing.
This wasn’t survival; this was power–leveling!
“Riley! Chest ahead!”
Tucked behind some glowing ferns, a chest radiating a soft green light sat waiting.

Riley walked up
and shattered the lock with her axe
“Obtained: Medium Mana Potionx 2”
“Obtained: Skill Book – Charge (Universal/Common)”
“Obtained: Bread x 5”
“A skill book?”

Riley picked up the thin booklet, and she and Tartking checked the description together. This was new; the system must have updated the chest loot tables after they changed classes.
“Charge: Quickly dash 5 meters toward a target. Creates a gust of wind around the body, dealing physical damage and knocking back enemies on impact. Cooldown: 60s.”
“Riley, that’s perfect for you,” TartKing said.
Riley read the instructions carefully. Once she confirmed there were no side effects, she clicked “Learn.”
The sensation was strange–she suddenly knew exactly how to perform the move as if she’d known it all her life.
As they pushed deeper and kept the slaughter going, t their coordination became seamless.
Riley stopped just mindlessly rushing in.
She started with Charge, slamming into mobs before they could react, following up with Power Strike for the stun, then a flurry of axe swings, and finishing with a point–blank arbalest bolt to the head. It was a fluid combo.
TartKing was also figuring things out.
She realized her Mana Affinity didn’t just affect her healing power; it affected the range of her skills.
She could now hide behind a tree ten meters away and use “Curve Casting” her own name for it, basically just lobbing the light ball in an arc) to heal Riley while simultaneously providing snacks.
“Riley, your stamina is getting low! Eat this!”
TartKing predicted Riley’s state perfectly, tossing a Mint Chocolate like a throwing star.
Riley caught it mid–air, shoved it in her mouth, and spun around to headshot a Venom Spider that was trying to sneak up on her.
The wordless understanding made the grind a pleasure.
Before they knew it, the sun began to dip toward the horizon.
The light in the Crystal Rainforest grew dim, and the glowing flora began to pulse with competing colors, making the forest look more psychedelic and dangerous.
“That’s enough for today.”
Riley checked her XP bar.
