Chapter 174 Thunder Canyon
Chapter 174 Thunder Canyon
They entered the Thunder Canyon
“Watch your step. Don’t touch the glowing blue stones,” PineappleBeer warned.
She was leading the way, casually twirling a dagger with a practiced flick of her wrist.

“Those are Lightning Stones. They only give you a small shock, but they’ll charge your body with static. If you hit three stacks, you’ll pull a lightning strike from the sky. It won’t kill you, but it’ll definitely ruin your hair.”
Tartking, who was in the middle, immediately yanked her foot back and clutched her fluffy surls.
“PineappleBeer, you know everything!” TartKing said, her eyes full of admiration
PineappleBeer paused for a moment, then turned back and gave them a wink.
“Living with Nightmares every day tends to give you a bit of a perspective. You learn things.”
“You say that like it’s a good thing,” Riley remarked.
“You get used to it. And lately, for some reason, the Nightmares have been quieting down.”
Riley didn’t know whether to comfort PineappleBeer or feel sorry for her.
PineappleBeer didn’t seem to mind, leading the way with a grin. Whenever they passed an inconspicuous crack in the rocks, she’d expertly pry out rare ores or herbs and toss them back to Riley.
“Here, Lightning Wood. Great for arrows.”
“Paralysis Grass. TartKing, hang onto that. We’ll mash it up and coat Riley’s axes with it later.”
Riley brought up the rear, handling security and looting. It was the most relaxed she’d been in a long time.
Usually, she was the one carrying the weight of survival and combat all on her own.
But now…
“Riley! Open up!”
A peeled Honey Chestnut was suddenly shoved toward her mouth.
TartKing was grinning, her hand held high. “Freshly peeled! Good for stamina!”
Riley instinctively took a bite. The soft, sweet flavor melted on her tongue, and she felt a genuine warmth in her chest.
PineappleBeer, leading the charge, looked back with a mock pout. “Hey! Where’s mine? No favorites!”
“Coming, coming! The biggest one is for PineappleBeer!”
Tartking buzzed between them like a busy little bee, keeping them both fed.

After about half an hour…
The canyon ahead narrowed into a “Bottle–neck” formation.
At the very end of that bottle–neck lay a massive creature.
Its entire body had a translucent purple crystal texture. It was over sixteen feet long, with two massive claws that looked like hydraulic crushers. Behind it, a high–arched stinger crackled with bolts of electricity.
Thunder Crystal Venom Scorpion King (Lv. 20 Area Boss)
Attributes: Lightning/Poison
Status: Sleeping
“We’re here.”
The three took cover behind a massive boulder.
PineappleBeer’s playful expression vanished, her eyes sharpening. She checked the server channel first to make sure there weren’t any other players nearby.
Riley pulled out her bestiary, but unfortunately, this boss wasn’t in her fragmented records.
“Don’t worry, Riley. I remember this thing.
“It’s a tough nut to crack. It has two phases.
“Phase 1 is physical. Its shell is incredibly hard; it has no real weaknesses except its underbelly. But its claws hit like a truck. Riley, don’t let it grab you. If it clamps down, it’ll crush your bones. It’s a death sentence.
“Phase 2 starts when its HP drops below 40%. It’ll enter ‘Thunderstorm Mode. Its whole body will become electrified, and it’ll vent a massive poison cloud.”
PineappleBeer turned to Riley and TartKing, speaking rapidly to set the plan.
“Riley, you take the aggro. Bait the tail strike. Rememb
your job is just to keep its attention, so focus on defense.
“Tartking, hide behind that rock over there. It’s a blind spot, the poison won’t reach it. Your job is to glue your eyes to Riley’s health
bar. Don’t stop the buffs, and keep yourself safe.”
PineappleBeer tapped her two daggers together with a sharp clack.
“As for me, I need to hit its back for the damage bonus. Its weak point is under a patch of soft armor right at the base of the stinger.”
Riley nodded, taking a deep breath.
