“ShadowHunter: Heh, coordinates are live. Look at the map at (4455, 890). Two gold dots just flashed on top of each other! Boys, those are the fat cats! Let’s go!”
“Anonymous: To the guy above–if you want to commit suicide, don’t drag us with you. If someone is glowing gold at this stage, do you think they’re a sheep or a T–Rex?” (1)
“LittleFlower: Sobbing… my friend was torn apart in the mist right in front of me… he’s really dead! He didn’t respawn! He’s just gone!”
“ColdWind: Don’t let the girl scare you. Dying in an instance just sends you back to the wastes. You’ll find your friend back at his shelter complaining about the loss.”
“Bystander: Exactly. I died once in the Dungeon instance. It hurt like hell, but I was fine after a week of rest. Stop spreading rumors about ‘real death‘ just to cause a panic.”
“Moth: Don’t ignore her! I think it might be true!”
The chat logs left the group in the hollow silent. That same heavy sorrow from before returned.
For those lucky enough not to witness the “Erasure” firsthand, this was still just a thrilling game. But for those who had seen it, the world had finally bared its most hideous fangs.
“Are we heading back out?”
“Forget it.”
Riley sat back down on the dirt, her golden glow so bright the nearby monkeys had to squint. “Walking around with this lighthouse on our heads makes us global enemies. I’m not scared, but it’s a waste of
energy.

“Besides…”
Riley pointed around the easily defensible monkey camp. “We have natural cover, traps, and a troop of free bodyguards. As long as we stay put, anyone who comes for us is dead meat.”
“The final 24 hours, we turtle here.”
Riley made the final call. “When the clock runs out, we teleport straight home with the loot.”
“Agreed!” Tart King was the first to raise her hand. “I’m done moving. This place is cozy, and the monkeys are fun.”
“I’m in,” BigMountain said, patting his greatsword.
As they finalized the plan.
The surrounding monkey troop suddenly became restless.

“Screech! Screech!”
With the Long Night finally lifted, the monkeys who had been trapped in the hollows for over a day were ready for their “liberation“.
The old leader was the first to bolt out.
It stood on a massive boulder at the entrance, pounding its chest at the stars and letting out several long, triumphant howls.
Then, hundreds of apes poured out behind it.
They began to celebrate like it was a national holiday.
Some climbed to the canopy to scream, while others began clearing the debris around the camp.
Strong males worked together to move the boulders and logs they’d used as barricades, re–expanding the camp boundaries.
“Screech! (Get the shiny stones out!)”
“Screech! (Go do it yourself!)”
The monkeys were a hive of activity.
They hauled the Glow–Crystals from the entrance back to their original spots, re–establishing the massive defensive array scattered through the trees.
Watching them work, Riley and the others couldn’t just sit still.
“We’ve got time. Let’s lend a hand.”
Riley stood up and walked over to several male apes struggling with a stone.
The rock was the size of a millstone; two monkeys were grunting and straining but could barely budge it.
Riley stepped in, gripped the base of the rock, and took a deep breath. With a surge of raw power.
The boulder moved instantly.
“Screech?!”
The nearby monkeys stared in total shock; one even dropped the banana it was holding.
Was this even human? She was stronger than their King!
“Where does this go?” Riley asked.
The monkeys didn’t speak English, but they understood her intent. They scrambled to the front to lead her toward a gap in the defensive line.
