Chapter 229 The Siege
“Okay!”
Necko shifted into her massive bear form. Despite her intimidating size, her clear, innocent eyes gave away her true nature.
“Remember to bring back the extra coal Joseph and the boys dug too.”
Riley pulled a jar of honey from the instance out of her bag, shook it, and tucked it into Neeko’s small pack, which already held a bulging lunch box.
Watching the motivated bear trot off toward the mine, Riley gave a satisfied nod.
Joseph’s trio was already busy in the wheat fields, and Little Tree was reinforcing the frames of the indoor greenhouse. Since the camp was now massive, Riley had zoned out areas for various flora; she’d even planted the new birch saplings in strategic spots.
Everything at home was running like clockwork.
Riley checked her current loadout.
Yellow Windbreaker: STR +4, CON +6, AGI +2.
Ring of the Martial God (Epic): STR +8, CON +2, AGI +1.
With these two pieces, her stats had taken another massive jump.
“Level 18 (620/1000)”
“Strength: 32+2+2+3+4+3+3+4+8 = 61”
“Agility: 21+3+1+2+3+4+3+2+1 = 40”
“Constitution: 21+4+3+1+2+3+4+3+6+2 = 49”
However, with the instance over, wild chest drop rates were up across the map. Looking at the channels, many players were starting to find blue-tier gear. To keep her lead, she couldn’t afford to slack off.
Leaving the camp, Riley stepped onto her Quality Skis and sped along the snowy slope to the right.

She was heading toward the bottomless chasm and the Lv. 4 shelter neighbor she’d spotted earlier.
She planned to scout the area and keep tabs on the neighbor’s activity.
I wonder what they’re up to, Riley thought.
But before she could even reach the edge of the chasm, the sound of a distant commotion carried on the wind made her stop.
BOOM!
“Fire! Don’t let them reach the walls!”
“Charge! Smash the gates! The loot inside is ours!”
It was the sound of human combat, mixed with the muffled thuds of explosions. It was incredibly jarring in the silence of the wastes.
“A fight?”
Riley’s eyes narrowed. She quickly stowed her skis and dropped into a low crouch, using the snowy hills as cover to move silently toward a massive boulder at the chasm’s edge.
She pulled out her Snow Binoculars, adjusted the focus, and looked across the gap.
Her brow furrowed immediately, then smoothed out into a look of amused curiosity.
“Well, look at that show.”
The camp on the other side of the chasm was currently at the center of a warzone.
It was a large base; about five or six people were standing on the stone-and-wood walls-a rare sight in the wastes. They were frantically firing bows and throwing makeshift spears at the ground below.
In the snow outside the walls, the attackers were even more numerous-at least a dozen people!
They wore matching dark-red armbands, and some were even equipped with uniform leather
armor.
“WarWolf Guild?”
Riley recognized the insignia immediately.

She’d seen them back in the Beast Forest instance.
“And the defenders… must be the owners of this camp.”
