Chapter 296 Warm Winter Dinner

Inside Riley’s camp…

Light burst from the intermediate teleportation array.

After that familiar weightless feeling, the three girls found themselves standing in their cozy backyard.

They walked into the main house’s living room. The fireplace was still burning bright. Ash lay sound asleep on the sofa. The tiny treant diligently wiped the wooden table. Over in the kitchen, Neeko was already prepping ingredients for dinner.

The moment she saw them return, Neeko dropped what she was doing and hurried over to greet them.

Riley smiled softly and pulled Neeko into a tight hug.

Ten minutes later.

The kitchen inside Riley’s camp was filled with rich, mouthwatering aromas.

TartKing had fully slipped into chef mode. She tied on an apron and bustled around the kitchen, with Neeko scrambling right beside her to help.

Neeko claimed she wanted to witness every step of the cooking process.

Riley knew better. The curious girl was clearly trying to steal cooking tricks. Human customs and skills were still incredibly new to

her.

TartKing sliced thick, even cuts of monster meat with practiced ease, then sprinkled them with spices and seasonings.

Sizzle-

The second the meat hit the scorching hot iron plate, fat burst across the surface with a satisfying crackle.

The outer layer seared instantly, locking all the juicy moisture inside. The meat stayed tender and soft. She seasoned it with sea salt and fragrant spices, frying a round egg to go alongside each steak.

Besides the fresh steaks, Neeko had already cleaned and prepped vegetables, making stir-frying quick and simple.

It didn’t take long for a hearty feast to be fully prepared.

PineappleBeer sat at the dining table, swirling an icy Coke inside a tall wine glass.

Holding the glass like that, she honestly looked like she was sipping expensive red wine.

Ash absolutely loved the steak. Riley had initially worried the salty seasoning might upset its stomach.

But then she reminded herself that it was a beast. If it wanted to eat something, nothing would make it sick. Riley stopped overthinking their weird little household pets; she let them eat whatever they enjoyed.

Over the past few weeks. Ash had grown noticeably bigger, it was once the size of a common chicken, and now it was as large as a

goose.

The tiny treant remained low-maintenance as always. It ate a small portion of vegetables before heading back to its room to rest. It tended to the strange black plants inside its chamber, along with the still unhatched mysterious egg.

TartKing’s lamb, Fluffy, did not eat any of the cooked food at all. It only needed occasional sweets from TartKing. Strangely enough. it could even grow extra cotton fluff on its back-a total contradiction to the law of energy conservation.

Outside the windows, a brutal snowstorm howled. Violent wind made it nearly impossible to see, and the temperature dropped to minus 58 to 76 degrees Fahrenheit.

Inside the house, the fireplace radiated steady warmth. Juicy meat sizzled on the plate, and cold fizzy drinks were available without limit.

Neeko slouched lazily in her chair with a full, round stomach. She mumbled in pure satisfaction.

“So good… Tart is the best. Neeko can’t eat anymore… but I still want more…”

TartKing grinned happily at the compliment. Every chef loved hearing praise for their cooking.

Riley stood up and handed everyone a cup of hawthorn drink to aid their digestion. Afterward, she turned on the living room

television.

“Christmas is coming soon.” Riley nodded toward the date displayed on the screen.

“Oh right. We lost track of time after coming to this world. Lucky you kept this tablet,” TartKing replied.

The tablet was connected to a copied version of Blue Planet’s internet, so the calendar date remained accurate.

“Christmas? What’s that?”

Hearing their conversation, Neeko leaned over curiously.

“It’s a joyful festival,” Riley explained simply, using easy words for Neeko to understand.

“After a whole year of busy life, the family gathers together at Christmas. Everyone shares warm blessings and enjoys being with one another.”

Neeko still looked confused despite the plain explanation.
