For Riley, NorthWind had a good attitude and no bad intentions. Since they were both humans trying to survive, Riley had no
reason to attack him.
The three girls walked slowly back toward their camp. Treasure chest spawn rates had dropped noticeably. They only found one chest along the way.
Still, the chest quality had improved. It was a pure silver chest.
Tartking opened it casually. Inside were piles of raw materials plus a reusable crossbow blueprint with no tier rating.
None of them actually needed another crossbow. But this ungraded blueprint was perfect for Riley’s plan.
High-tier blue weapons granted stat bonuses, but regular survivors like Joseph could not gain those extra buffs. On top of that, high-grade crafting materials cost a fortune.
These plain, ungraded weapons solved every single problem.
Before they even reached the camp, they spotted several figures working in the wheat field outside the cuter wall.
It was Joseph and his two nephews.
Their skin looked pale from staying indoors for so long, but they seemed energetic enough.
“Joseph!”
TartKing waved at him warmly.
“Oh! My three mage lords!”
Joseph heard the voice, quickly set down his shovel, and nervously wiped dirt off his hands. He bowed respectfully alongside his two nephews.
Riley waved her hand to dismiss the formal greeting.
“You look pale. Have you been sick lately?”
“Thank you for your concern. Thanks to you, we’re all alive and well.
“We just haven’t left our shelter during the long blizzard. Nothing serious.
“Also, half the mine entrance was buried under snow, but I’ve cleared it out. We mined plenty of coal these past few days and stacked it inside the tunnel. We’ll bring it over to your camp later.”
“No rush. Rest first. I’ll have Neeko bring you fruits and food. I know these harsh snow days have been tough.”
“We are truly grateful!”
Riley waved it off and glanced toward the field behind Joseph.
Joseph’s face twisted with unease the second her gaze shifted. A lot of wheat had died in the brutal storm, and he feared punishment.

Riley saw his worry and spoke calmly.
“It’s fine. No one could fight this weather. Even tough iron grain would’ve frozen and cracked.”
She pointed toward another section of the farmland in the distance.

“Take care of the ripe wheat growing under the lantern lights over there. You’ll have a solid harvest. Just dig up the frozen dead crops and replant new seeds.”
Under the warm glow of floating lanterns, those wheat stalks had not frozen at all. They grew strong and plump, some even turning pale yellow, nearly fully mature.
Unfortunately, the lanterns only covered a limited area, saving just a portion of the field.
Wheat grew fast though, so Riley did not feel upset. She just hoped another massive blizzard would not roll in anytime soon.
“Yes!” Joseph saw that Riley wasn’t angry, so he broke into a smile again.
“Once the wheat fully ripens, keep what you need and hand the rest over to Neeko,” Riley instructed.
“Understood!” Joseph nodded, then went back to work with his nephews.
Back inside the main house’s living room, Riley leaned against the sofa, ready to plan her daily tasks.
Suddenly, the system notification tone rang in her ears.
[Global Announcement: The extreme cold storm has ended. Temperature is rising. Bonfire suppression effects have been removed.]
[Global Announcement: Congratulations to all survivors for passing the first brutal survival trial. In this frozen world, resources equal power.]
[Warning: A new storm is approaching. Survivors, scavenge and seize resources to survive.]
Right after the notification, massive changes appeared on Riley’s system interface.
A brand-new map popped up on the simple UI, covered by a thin layer of fog.
Various glowing colored dots flickered through the mist.
