Chapter 670 Frozen Time Plains

Chapter 670 Frozen Time Plains

She knew exactly which paths to avoid.

But she had no clue how she knew it.

The strange feeling bugged her a little.

PineappleBeer took half a step forward.

Riley held her back horizontally with her axe.

No rush. Let’s scope out the area first. We’re finally here, so we need to stay extra careful.

Riley understood why PineappleBeer was eagereverything she’d been chasing was right in this place. But dungeon dangers were never obvious. They were so close to the end, and they couldn’t afford to mess up now.

PineappleBeer stopped in her tracks.

She glanced down at the axe handle blocking her way and suddenly smiled faintly.

It’s fine. Trust me.

Riley didn’t respond.

She turned her gaze toward the distance, picking up on something off about their surroundings.

A soft wind swept across the plains. The grass right at their feet bent with the breeze, yet the grass just a few steps ahead stayed completely still.

On the left, tree leaves drifted down so slowly their movement was almost impossible to spot, hanging frozen midair.

On the right, a wooden barrel lay toppled in front of an old cabin. The water that had spilled out hung in a perfect curved arc, suspended midfall.

The water hovered there, never dropping to the ground.

TartKing noticed the weird sight too.

She stepped forward two paces, lifted the tip of her staff, and waved it gently beside the water without touching it.

The edge of the water ripple suddenly trembled. A few tiny droplets broke free, drifted down less than an inch, then froze solid again.

TartKing pulled her staff back immediately, her heart racing.

Riley’s eyes locked on the fallen barrel.

Next to it was a halfformed footprint.

It looked fresh, like someone had just stepped there, yet there was no sign of anyone nearby.

Tartking quickly scrambled back to Riley’s side.

PineappleBeer stared into the distance, her eyes sweeping over the scattered cabins and treeline.

We go that way.

She pointed deeper into the plains.

A faint gray path wound through the grass, passing several low stone cabins before tooping behind the woods.

Riley pulled out her detailed star track map.

The map hadn’t disappeared, but all the Floor 19 route lines had faded completely after they entered Floor 20. Only a blurry patch of light remained in the center, its edges constantly warping like a crumpled piece of paper.

TartKing leaned in to look. Is the map broken?

Riley tried channeling a little mental power into it.

Nothing happened at all.

She put the map away and continued scanning their strange surroundings.

The spacetime here is seriously messed up.

TartKing tightened her grip on her staff.

Should we just follow Pine’s gut then?

PineappleBeer tilted her head toward her.

Scared?

Hell yeah I’m scared,TartKing admitted without hesitation. But I’m sticking with you no matter what. I promised.

PineappleBeer stared at her for a few seconds. Then she suddenly reached out, ruffled the top of TartKing’s hair, pinched her cheek lightly, and smiled softly at her stunned face.

It’s okay, Tart. I’ll keep you safe.

Her touch was gentle and light.

TartKing froze completely on the spot.

PineappleBeer had been so cold and reserved just a moment ago; this sudden warm side of her felt totally out of nowhere.

Riley also turned to watch them.

PineappleBeer’s hand froze midair.

She looked just as stunned as TartKing for a split second.

After a moment, she pulled her hand back, smoothed out her expression, and acted like nothing had happened

You had grass on your hair.

fartking immediately reached up to touch her head.

There was nothing there at all.

She opened her mouth to argue and then closed it again, confused.

Riley’s gaze stayed fixed on PineappleBeer.

PineappleBeer avoided her eyes and turned toward the gray path.

Let’s go. Standing here won’t fix anything.

Riley followed after her, stepping ahead to take the lead.

I’ll take point.

The three of them headed down the winding gray path.

The plains looked empty and endless at first glance, but as they walked, they spotted time distortions popping up every few paces.

The first anomaly was a flock of black birds frozen on the grass.

They looked like they’d just been startled into flight, wings halfspread, claws still clutching broken blades of grass.

Riley steered the group wide around the patch of grass, keeping their distance.

Right as they reached the edge of the area, one of the bird’s eyes suddenly rotated.

A chill ran down TartKing’s spine, and she nearly lifted her staff on instinct.

PineappleBeer pressed a hand down on her wrist to stop her.

Don’t attack it.

Is it alive?
