Chapter 671 Twisted Time Fragments

None of these structures looked like typical dungeon scenery. They felt like they’d always belonged in this world.

TartKing moved with extreme caution.

Her Froststar Battle Prayer Gloves made wielding the greatsword feel way lighter, but she didn’t keep it in her hands the whole time. Too many things were frozen midair around them, and dragging a greatsword on the ground could easily trigger something dangerous. She mostly relied on her staff, only switching to the greatsword to clear narrow paths.

Riley led the way up front, brushing stray branches aside with her axe blades every now and then.

Some branches moved easily when touched.

Others were locked solid in place, stiff as steel.

She’d tapped one fixed branch with her axe handle once. The air around it instantly rippled with tiny waves. The ripple washed over the handle, sending a faint numbing tingle up Riley’s wrist.

She pulled back right away.

Don’t touch anything that’s frozen in place.”

TartKing stared at the rigid branch.

Is the time stopped here, or is the space broken?

Both,Riley replied.

PineappleBeer walked between them and suddenly spoke in a low voice.

This kind of distortion always shows up after a sacred artifact explodes nearby.

Riley froze midstep.

TartKing also turned to stare at her.

What sacred artifact?

PineappleBeer furrowed her brows. She pressed her fingers to her temples, a hint of irritation flickering across her face.

I don’t know.

You just said sacred artifact.

I didn’t

She cut herself off halfway.

She had said it.

The word had slipped out before she could think. It was like someone else had spoken through her mouth.

PineappleBeer’s expression turned cold.

Keep moving.

TartKing mumbled softly, You’re kinda scary right now, Pine.

PineappleBeer shot her a sharp glance, icy and distant.

TartKing flinched and shrank back a little.

The coldness in PineappleBeer’s eyes faded just as quickly as it came.

She seemed to realize how she’d sounded and softened her tone.

Sorry.

TartKing was caught off guard.

PineappleBeer almost never apologized so directly, and she didn’t know how to react.

IIt’s fine.

Riley walked up beside PineappleBeer.

You feel that yourself, don’t you?

“Feel what?PineappleBeer asked.

Your reactions are changing.”

PineappleBeer fell silent for a few seconds. She stared down at her hands, the silver lines on her gloves lying flat against her skin.

I feel completely lucid.

That’s exactly the problem,Riley said.

PineappleBeer lifted her gaze. She looked like she wanted to argue, but finally only said two words.

I know.

She knew exactly what Riley was worried about.

If you could tell something was wrong with yourself, there was still a chance to fix it.

But some of her strange shifts had happened without her noticing at all.

She could feel this world pulling at her.

The farther they walked, the clearer the pull became.

At first it was just a faint flutter in her chest. Now it felt like an invisible thread, tugging her toward a fixed direction.

She lifted her head.

At the end of the woods, beneath the distant sky, a massive mountain caitre into view.

It was enormous.

Black and crimson in color, it looked like a dormant volcano. No smoke billowed from its peak, but dark red cracks snaked all the way from its midsection down to the base. The sky above the mountain was shattered even worse, crisscrossed by endless silver rifts, with clouds frozen in completely different states between the cracks.

Some clouds were midchurn.

Others looked sliced open by blades, locked with sharp, jagged edges.

PineappleBeer five her eyes on the mountain.

The closer they got to the mountain, the more chaotic the surroundings became.
