Chapter 721 Peace Inside the Manor
Chapter 721 Peace Inside the Manor
Anna stood at the edge of the crowd with a bowl in her hands, making sure every child finished their food. A faint smile finally settled on her face.
Joseph barely drank any wine. He sat by the fire and rearranged the entire night watch schedule on his wooden duty tags. Someone pressed a warm roasted potato into his palm. He froze for a second, peeled the skin, and took a few bites. He realized he hadn’t properly sat down for a decent meal in days.
Riley and TartKing stayed through the liveliest part of the gathering before quietly standing to leave.
Neeko fell into step right behind them.
No one tried to stop them.
Everyone understood. It was already more than enough that Riley had stepped out to sit with them tonight.
The main house stood just a short distance from the fire, yet it felt entirely cut off from the noisy camp. It was Riley’s private space. The native residents rarely came near it unless Neeko sent them over with supplies or Riley personally allowed people inside.
Even during the worst days of the siege, when the camp was falling apart around them, no one had dared break into the main house to rummage through anything.
The snow by the entrance had been swept clean, and the stone steps were spotless.
Neeko pushed the door open and spoke softly. “I clean here every day.”
The house was neat and tidy.
The fireplace was cold, but not a speck of dust lingered anywhere. The cups on the table sat in their original spots. The blanket on the couch was neatly folded. Wooden boards had been nailed over the windows from the inside, the edges trimmed clean and fastened carefully- clearly work Neeko had done bit by bit on her own.
Riley stepped inside and finally relaxed her shoulders.
The place looked almost exactly as she’d left it.
Half the outer camp had crumbled. The warehouse walls were broken. The workshop lay in ruins. The defense lines had collapsed all the way back to the main house perimeter. Still, this

one room remained untouched, exactly how she remembered it.

It felt like someone had guarded this small piece of home just for her, waiting for her return.
Tartking nearly collapsed onto the floor the second she walked in.
She grabbed the table edge to steady herself and let out a long breath. “I swear, beds are humanity’s greatest invention.”
Neeko immediately darted toward the kitchen. “I make food.”
“No need to trouble yourself,” Tart King hurried to say. “We just ate.”
Necko was already opening the cabinets, carefully pulling out vegetables, bread, and milk.
“Neeko can make this.”
Her speech was still a little halting, and she referred to herself by name whenever she grew anxious. She washed the vegetables, chopped them into uneven chunks, and set them on a plate. She sliced thick pieces of bread and poured milk into cups.
It was simple, plain food with no complicated cooking involved.
Just vegetables, bread, and milk.
But for two people who’d just fought their way out of Floor 20 and survived endless monster waves across the snowfields, it was perfect.
Neeko set the plate on the table and stared up at Riley with bright eyes. “Riley, eat. Tart, eat
too.”
TartKing sat down and picked up a slice of bread. “Thank you, Neeko.”
Riley took a piece as well.
The vegetables were slightly cold. The bread was cut thick. The milk had been overheated until it was almost scalding.
Still, she ate slowly.
Neeko sat across from her, hands folded neatly on her knees, waiting patiently for her
reaction.
Riley swallowed the last sip of milk. “It’s good.”

Necko broke into a bright smile at once.
TartKing nodded too. “Really delicious.”
Necko’s smile grew wider, the tips of her ears lifting happily.
After finishing their meal, the two of them cleaned up quickly.

Washing off dried blood and grime took more effort than they expected. Some of Riley’s wounds had been numbed and stabilized by potions and healing magic, but faint gray-silver traces of temporal chaos still lingered across her skin. Her left arm felt sluggish, dragging half a beat behind every movement she made.
TartKing helped her remove her old bandages.
Her hands froze the moment she saw the cracked Divine Mirror over Riley’s heart.
Tiny crimson glimmers flickered within the fine cracks, like leftover embers. When she leaned closer, her fingertips turned faintly cold, as if some invisible gaze had swept over her.
“Riley, this-”
Riley glanced down. “It’s dormant for now. Nothing to worry about.”
TartKing pressed her lips together. “Do you feel any pain or discomfort?”
Riley thought for a second. “Everything hurts.”
TartKing fell silent.
Riley stared forward blankly. “I’m serious.”
TartKing sighed. She cast healing magic and used high-grade recovery potions to treat all of Riley’s external wounds. By the time she tended to her own injuries, she was so exhausted she could barely lift her hands. Riley took the potion from her and cleaned the claw wound on her shoulder for her.
“Does it hurt?”
“It’s fine,” TartKing mumbled, her voice growing quieter by the second.
