Denton nodded in agreement. “Once I officially take over the company, I’ll hand the authority to Savannah first and let her clean things up for me. When I come back, I’ll take over again.”
Savannah and Ernest both nodded in satisfaction.
Denton’s performance had clearly pleased Savannah and Ernest.
The two of them began racking their brains to help Denton seize power.
Denton was doing his part, too. As soon as he got the slightest bit of authority, he immediately aimed at the people Curtis had left behind, firing several key mid–level managers from critical positions.
“Denton is just a punk kid who doesn’t know anything. If the Lincoln Group ends up in his hands, it’s only a matter of time before the whole place collapses!” During a senior management meeting, people had already started openly attacking him.
Lincoln Group was in turmoil, and everyone felt on edge.
“Denton is the successor personally appointed by Mr. Harold. Talking like this—are you trying to rebel?”
“Is that how you repay everything Mr. Harold invested in you?”
Senior management was split into two camps–one supporting Denton, the other insisting he wasn’t fit to shoulder such responsibility.
“Back when Mr. Curtis was still around, he said Denton could take over the Lincoln Group, but only when he was truly ready.” Someone raised a perfectly reasonable concern.
“Curtis is dead! And even if he were alive, he would’ve been kicked out long ago. Why should we still listen to him?” Savannah strode in, voice low and sharp. “Denton is the sole heir. Whether you want to give up power or not, you’re going to.”
With that icy declaration, Savannah had Denton sit at the head of the table.
Denton sat down without saying a word, letting Savannah do all the talking for him.
“During the time Denton’s been in school, I’ve been directly involved in managing the company, Savannah said, looking around the room.
The moment those words fell, the people Curtis had left behind exploded.
Letting a butler’s daughter into management–this was unheard of.
“Back then, Mr. Harold cultivated your whole group of students to assist the management, not to be the management!” Someone shot to their feet in anger. “This is ridiculous! If Mr. Curtis insists on doing this, then I’ll have no choice but to resign!” (1
“Using your resignation to threaten us? Great, go right ahead. HR, give Mr. Morant an extra six months‘ salary when he leaves!” Denton stood up, speaking in Savannah’s defense.

At this point he was already a useless, incompetent puppet who couldn’t hold anything together in
everyone’s eyes.
As soon as he said that, several senior executives slammed the table and stormed out.
In the end, only Savannah’s people were left in the conference room, laughing as they voiced their support. “Bravo, Mr. Denton–new boss, new broom. Chase them all out, and this company will finally be quiet.”
Denton gave a small nod. “Savannah, I’ll leave the company to you for now. When I come back from abroad, I’ll take it over again.”
Savannah nodded. “Just focus on your studies. I’ve got things handled here.”
Denton sneezed, and his complexion looked off.
“Got a cold?” Savannah asked with feigned concern.
Denton nodded. “Maybe. I’ve had a bit of a fever since yesterday.”
Inside, Savannah was overjoyed. Clearly, Denton had been infected with HIV by Lily—these were the early symptoms.
“Get some rest,” Savannah said gently.
Denton nodded again. “Savannah, I’ll head back first. I promised to take Lily shopping today.”
“Go on then.” Savannah nodded with a smile.
As soon as Denton left, a few of the executives started laughing and congratulating Savannah. “Congratulations, congratulations–Lincoln Group is finally in your hands, and you’ve wiped out all the remnants Curtis left behind.”
Savannah sat proudly in the CEO’s chair, leaning back and looking over everyone. “From now on, we look out for each other and do a good job.”
From outside the door, Ernest walked in.
Today, he’d abandoned his usual butler’s outfit and was in a sharp suit, looking every bit like a man of
status.
“Mr. Feron.” The executives all stood respectfull him with polite smiles.
Even Savannah was stunned for a moment. “Dad…”
Ernest walked over and motioned for her to stand
Savannah reluctantly rose to her feet, and Ernest sat down in the CEO’s chair instead.
His tone was mild. “Did you really think you could take control of Lincoln Group from Denton so smoothly without all the years I’ve spent laying the groundwork?”

Savannah was stunned for a long time. She thought she was playing the game, but it turned out she was
just a pawn.
Except this particular oriole was her own father.
“Dad… you’re getting old. You should be enjoying your retirement at home. Let me handle everything from here on,” Savannah tried to persuade him.
“Hmph. You’re still too young.” Ernest had no intention of letting her be the one in charge. “Once we’ve taken the shares from Denton and turned Lincoln Group completely into ours, we’ll discuss about handing it to you.”
Savannah was unwilling, but she swallowed it down.
This wasn’t the time to fight over who got to be CEO of Lincoln Group.
Lincoln Estate.
When Denton and Lily came back from outside, Ernest and Savannah had just returned as well, and Savannah’s face was sour.
“I’m flying abroad tomorrow. You have to take care of yourself, and remember to text me when you can, okay?” Denton said softly, comforting Lily.
Lily nodded, aggrieved.
