Chapter 418 Manners

Silas led Adriana into the private room. The setting was peaceful, with flowing water and a calming atmosphere that made people
relax.
They had only sat down for a few minutes when Julian arrived. He even brought a bottle of good liquor, clearly planning to
celebrate with Silas.
But the moment he stepped inside and saw Adriana, he stopped in place.
It was obvious he recognized her.
Julian paused briefly, then quickly smiled at Silas. But, he made no move to sit down. “Buddy, you said you found a girlfriend, so i came to take a look. But on my way here, my wife kept calling me to go home. Sorry, man. I have to head back first.”
He spoke casually, clearly used to making his wife as an excuse.
Adriana smiled calmly, stood up, and reached out her hand. “Mr. Hale, nice to meet you. I’m really glad you came today. This is our first proper meeting. My name is Adriana Xander. I hope we can get to know each other better.”
She stayed composed, polite without being too humble or too proud. That caught Julian off guard. She was much calmer than he expected.
But because of what Chandler had told him, his opinion of Adriana was already set. To him, she was just a girl who grew up in an orphanage, had no real skill, and got by on luck while taking things she didn’t earn.
“Ms. Barton, nice to meet you,” Julian said politely, but he ignored her hand. Instead, he kept smiling at Silas. “Buddy, I’m really sorry. You know how my wife is. I need to go now, or she won’t even let me sleep in the bedroom tonight.”
Silas looked at Adriana with concern.
Her hand hung in the air, but she kept her posture and her smile.
Silas thought she’d feel awkward, but she didn’t. She still looked at Julian calmly. “People say you care deeply about your wife. A man like that should respect women. That’s one reason I agreed to meet you. Even though I grew up in an orphanage, my teachers still taught me about respect and manners.”
Her smile never faded, but her polite words made Julian seem like the rude one.
He looked awkward for a moment, like he was about to lose his temper.
If he had just shaken her hand earlier, it wouldn’t be a big deal. But now things had dragged on, and if he accepted it now, it would feel like giving in.
His expression turned cold. After a pause, he said, “Sorry. My wife gets jealous. We have an unspoken rule. I can’t have physical contact with other women.”
Once again, he used his wife as an excuse.
Adriana kept her hand raised. Her arm was starting to hurt, but her smile didn’t change. She narrowed her eyes slightly and said flatly, “Is that so?”
Right after she spoke, the door opened. Danielle walked in with Julian’s wife, Kathleen Hale.

Adriana’s smile widened. She looked at Kathleen and said, “Mrs. Hale, since you’re here, would you mind if I shake hands with Mr.
Hale
Kathleen had no idea what was going on and laughed. “You silly girl. A handshake is just basic mariners. Why would I mind?”
Adriana turned to Julian, whose face had darkened even more, and smiled meaningfully. “Mr. Hale, nice to meet you. I’m Adriana. ! hope we can sit down and really get to know each other.”
His expression was dark, but he couldn’t lash out. With his wife there, he couldn’t say much. At that moment, he had to admit that both he and Chandler had seriously misjudged Adriana.
