**When Time Tried to Heal Me But I Refused to Listen by Kael Niro Senn**
Adriana waved goodbye to Danielle, her voice trailing off with a soft, “Take care…” as she watched her friend disappear into the distance.
The ache in her forehead pulsed with each heartbeat, and her complexion was ghostly pale, yet there was a flicker of mischief in her eyes as she turned her attention to the store manager. “Since Ms. Barton has already taken care of the bill, please wrap up all these exquisite jewelry pieces and bags for us,” she instructed, her tone firm yet laced with excitement.
The manager hesitated for a brief moment, glancing at the pile of luxurious items before him, but then he quickly nodded, “Yes, ma’am.”
Nearby, Belinda stood in awe, her mouth slightly agape, and she gave Adriana an enthusiastic thumbs-up, her expression a mixture of admiration and disbelief.
Shopping with someone else footing the bill was an exhilarating experience, one that made Adriana feel both powerful and a bit reckless.
The blood from the cut on Adriana’s forehead had nearly dried, and the thrill of the shopping spree coursed through her veins as she and Belinda sifted through the treasures that Danielle had purchased.
“This one is incredibly pricey! All my classmates are obsessed with it. That horrible girl who stole my boyfriend had one just like it and flaunted it every single day,” Adriana exclaimed, her voice bubbling with excitement as she held up a stunning bracelet.
With a sly grin, she handed the bracelet to Belinda. “This one’s for you.”
The two friends engaged in a playful division of their newfound bounty, each piece a symbol of their victory over the day’s chaos.
Belinda shook her head vehemently, her face scrunching in distaste. “I don’t want the one that awful girl had. I refuse to be associated with her in any way.”
“Then take this one—it’s even more expensive,” Adriana countered, presenting Belinda with a more extravagant bracelet, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
Belinda’s eyes lit up, her admiration for Adriana shifting from initial annoyance to genuine respect.
“You’re incredible! I wish I had even half your bravery. Doesn’t your head hurt? Are you really not going to the hospital?” Belinda asked, her voice tinged with sincere concern.
Just then, Curtis burst onto the scene, his face a mask of urgency. He rushed towards Adriana, grabbing her shoulders as panic flickered in his eyes. “Adriana! What happened? We need to get you to the hospital right now.”
Adriana flashed him a bright smile, her excitement bubbling over. “I’m fine! Look at all this—over six million dollars’ worth of items! Danielle paid for everything.”
Curtis’s expression darkened, concern quickly morphing into frustration. “So, Danielle is the one who put you in danger?”
Adriana hesitated, her mind racing. She grappled with whether to reveal the truth, knowing it involved Harold, a subject she was reluctant to discuss.
“Danielle… she called me to get Adriana out shopping. Curtis, I’m really sorry. She brought people to block us and tried to drag Adriana to the hospital to check if she’s pregnant. She said Harold told her to do it,” Belinda interjected quickly, sensing the tension in the air as Adriana remained silent.
Curtis shot Belinda a stern look. “We will discuss this later.”
With that, he scooped Adriana into his arms, determination etched on his face as he prepared to take her to the hospital.
As they took a few steps, he turned back to Belinda, his voice low and serious. “Don’t ever do something so reckless again.”
Belinda lowered her gaze, looking both hurt and chastened, but she nodded obediently.
Curtis shook his head, a knowing smile creeping onto his lips as he realized just how much Adriana loved money.
“Oh, and I forgot to mention, your thirty million has been placed into a proper investment fund by Kenneth. Starting next month, you’ll receive dividends at the beginning of each month, and the principal will be transferred to your account at the end of the year,” Curtis explained, his tone calm and reassuring.
Adriana’s eyes widened in disbelief, the weight of his words sinking in. Does this mean I’m officially rich now?
Even if Curtis decides to leave me, that thirty million will ensure my studies and future are secure.
Unbeknownst to Curtis, Adriana was already contemplating the possibility of leaving. He snorted arrogantly and settled into a chair. “I’m heading back to Harborton tomorrow.”
Adriana froze, her heart dropping. “But we just got back…”
So, he’s leaving again? This trip back was merely to drop me off?
Perhaps I’m just overthinking it…
“Yeah,” Curtis replied curtly, offering no further explanation. He had plans to confront Harold.
He wouldn’t let Danielle and Nicole escape the consequences of Adriana’s injury.
“Tonight… are we going to…?” Adriana ventured nervously, her mood buoyant as she broached the subject with her sugar daddy.
