Chapter 121 Hates Dogs
:
“Alfred, don’t you dare throw a drunken fit in my office.”
Since she couldn’t break free, Nella gave up.
She stood still, looked up at him, and spoke calmly.
Alfred froze for a moment, a brief flash of clarity returning to his eyes.
Seeing her cool, rational gaze so clearly, his heart was pierced again and again.

The ache in his chest turned sour and swollen. With reddened eyes, he spoke, “You blocked me from viewing your posts on Facebook.”
His alcohol-roughened voice carried a trace of grievance when he said it.
Nella paused.
She frowned at him. “You came storming over here just to say that?”
“Can’t I?”
Alfred’s voice rose without him noticing.
To him, her response felt like she was deliberately dodging the issue.
“Nella, I’m your legal husband. How can you block me?”
Nella’s brow knit even tighter.
She realized Alfred might be drunk.
Only drunk Alfred would come all this way just to confront her over being blocked on Facebook.
“I post too much. I didn’t want to bother you.”
Nella tossed out a casual excuse.
But she couldn’t help wondering why Alfred suddenly thought to check her Facebook in the middle of the night.
“Heh.”
A faint, mocking laugh slipped from Alfred’s lips.

His hand tightened around Nella’s wrist.
Fueled by uncontrolled anger, his grip grew heavier.
Pain made Nella’s brows crease sharply.
“Alf-”

“Are you worried about bothering me, or are you afraid I’d find out you’re keeping a puppy outside?”
The word caught in Nella’s throat.
Shock and surprise flashed between her tightly furrowed brows.
“Y-you know?”
Pain stabbed Alfred’s chest.
She actually admitted it just like that.
Faced with his accusation, she couldn’t even be bothered to deny it.
Nella!
How could this woman admit so openly, right in front of me, that she’s keeping a puppy?
Nella noticed how strongly Alfred reacted to the idea of her having a dog.
It looks like he really hates dogs.
He’s so pissed about me keeping one that his eyes are blazing red.
“So that’s why you come home so late every day? You’ve been going to see him?”
Nella stayed silent, clearly accepting it.
And that reaction pushed Alfred’s tightly restrained fury completely out of control.
“If I hadn’t found out, were you planning to hide it from me forever?”
Nella instinctively nodded.
But when she saw Alfred looking like he was about to cry from anger, she stopped herself.
What have dogs ever done to him to make him this furious over me keeping one?
