Buried in the Avalanche Our Love Expired novel Chapter 149

Chapter 149 More Like a Boss

Maisie spoke while sneaking glances at her boss’s expression before finally falling silent.

“Mr. Keywood, if you don’t have any other instructions, I’ll get back to work.”

Seeing Alfred say nothing, Maisie ducked her head and quickly turned to leave.

She was afraid that if she were one second slower, she’d be called back and yelled at.

The CEO’s office door slowly closed.

Alfred pinched the bridge of his nose. The coffee-stained white shirt was still clung to his body.

He frowned and picked up his phone, downloading several popular entertainment gossip apps.

As soon as he finished and opened one, the first thing that popped up was gossip about him.

He clicked on it and scrolled down. The further he went, the darker his expression became.

Finally, holding back anger, he exited the app.

Thinking about Zoey’s suggestive videos and her deliberate manipulation of public opinion to imply an ambiguous relationship between them made Alfred’s brows furrow even deeper.

So all these years, had Nella thought the same thing?

Thought that he and Zoey had an ambiguous relationship?

For the first time, Alfred began questioning whether he had been too indulgent with Zoey.

A moment later, he pressed the intercom again.

“Come to my office.”

Shortly after, the CEO’s office door opened, and Sergio hurried in.

“Mr. Keywood, you wanted to see me?”

“Patrick’s incident. Send someone to investigate alongside the hospital.”

“We’re investigating too?”

Sergio asked in surprise. “But we don’t know medicine.”

“Then find some people who do.”

1/3

Sergio was speechless. “Alright, Mr. Keywood.”

“Focus on investigating Zoey and the caregiver who was hired to look after Patrick.”

Sergio’s eyes lit up. “Yes, Mr. Keywood. I’ll get right on it.”

Sergio was about to turn and leave when Alfred stopped him.

“Wait.”

“Mr. Keywood, is there something else?”

Alfred’s brows were deeply furrowed. After a moment’s hesitation, he asked, “Do you think I’m not considerate enough toward Nella?”

He admitted that, in the years since marrying Nella, he had indeed devoted too much time to the company and hadn’t spend enough time with his wife like other husbands.

He had known before marrying Nella that he couldn’t possibly do otherwise.

That’s why he had signed that agreement with her.

But he’d sent gifts on time for every holiday.

He’d never been stingy with money.

Wasn’t that enough?

If she felt he wasn’t doing enough, why hadn’t Nella tell him directly?

If she had, he thought he wouldn’t have refused her.

An inexplicable sense of guilt crept into his heart.

Surprise flashed in Sergio’s eyes when Alfred stopped him to ask this.

How was he supposed to answer this?
