Chapter 169 Messing Around

“Is that so? So in your eyes, a life-or-death matter is just ‘messing around? Fine. I get it.”

As Felicia said this, she nodded, her expression suddenly clear.

“No wonder Ms. Mack can shamelessly hog someone else’s husband for two weeks and still sleep like a baby. I suppose, to Ms. Mack, that barely even counts as a problem. I used to wonder how a young woman could have so little sense of boundaries. Now it seems it runs in the family.”

It was obvious that Felicia was furious. That was the only reason she’d say something so sharp and cutting.

Norris hadn’t expected Felicia to be this blunt, and her words ground his family’s dignity straight into the dirt.

His expression shifted again and again, growing uglier by the second.

Alfred hadn’t expected Felicia to bring this up either. Along with the shock came a strong sense of embarrassment.

Thinking back on leaving Nella alone overseas for two weeks, he had to admit he’d gone too far.

At the time, all he cared about was making sure Zoey’s depression didn’t get worse, so he focused entirely on her and neglected Nella.

Now that Felicia brought it up so pointedly, he felt both guilty and ashamed.

He instinctively glanced at Nella, only to see that her expression hadn’t changed much.

It was as if the “heinous crime” Felicia mentioned had nothing to do with her at all.

Eileen completely blew up when she heard Felicia’s sharp, grating sarcasm aimed at her daughter.

“How can you talk like that? Alfred treats Zoey well because of the bond they’ve had since they were kids. Your daughter couldn’t keep her own husband in line, so how is that our daughter’s fault?”

Everyone in the reception room was stunned.

So this was what it looked like when someone was proud of being the other woman. Even her own mother could say something so shameless. No wonder it ran in the family.

Most of the hospital administrators and department heads in the room were from Apex Medical.

They were either classmates, alumni, or at least in the same professional circle as Felicia and Clifford, so naturally, they leaned toward the Milos.

Paired with Eileen’s utterly shameless remarks, the room fell into dead silence.

The looks people gave her were hard to describe.

As one of the people directly involved, Alfred frowned deeply.

The humiliating feeling of being gawked at like a circus act instantly closed in on him.

Felicia, at least, had her composure. She couldn’t bring herself to curse like a shrew the way Eileen did.

After hearing Eileen’s words, even she was rendered speechless.

Just then,a deep, forceful snort cut through the air, instantly crushing Eileen’s arrogance.

“If Nella couldn’t keep her husband in line, that’s my fault. It’s my failure, as his grandfather, for not teaching him properly.” Regis spoke in a low voice.

Though his eyes were clouded by age, the pressure they carried was unmistakable.

That sharp gaze, like a blade tempered in ice, landed squarely on Eileen.

“You might as well blame me and call me useless for not knowing how to discipline my family.”
