Chapter 172 The Invitation
Alfred heard the urgency in Nella’s tone, and be immediately what he was thinking
Be quietly looked at her, the light in his eyes dimming without him real
After Clifford and Felicia left, Caleb also found an excuse to leave
Only Nella, Regis, and Alfred were left in the reception room.
“Regis-
Nella was just about to find an excuse to leave as well when Alfred beat her to k
“Nella!”
He called her name firmly, cutting off whatever the was about to say
He stepped in front of her, looking down at her and blocking Regi’s view.
“Grandpa traveled all the way from the south to back you up. You’re not planning to just love his beer and walk away, are you?”
As he finished speaking, the hand hanging at his side clenched unconsciously,
Regis lifted his eyelids and shot his disappointing grandson an annoyed glance.
That little punk. He’s really getting bold now, even using me as a tool
But annoyed or not, he’s still my grandson.
Even if I’m being used as a tool, I’ll accept it.
Nella raised her eyes and met Alfred’s self-righteous expression head-on her lips curling into a mocking smile.
“If you hadn’t been trying to protect Zoey again, Grandpa wouldn’t have needed to rush all the way from
the south.”.
Alfred’s expression instantly twisted. “When did I ever try to protect Zoey?”
“That’s hard to say.
Nella smirked.
Luckily, Regis and my parents arrived in time. Otherwise, with that thoughtful look on his face back them bes obviously figuring out how to smooth this whole thing over for Zory.
Nella’s mocking expression made Alfred feel like a lump of anger was stuck in his chest, unable to go up or
down.
Once again, he read her thoughts through her eyes.

So in her view, my going out early that morning, traveling all that way with bodyguards to haul Chandler and Martin back, was all just to protect Zoey?
Alfred’s face darkened as he glared at Nella, looking like he wanted to swallow her whole.
But in the end, he was so angry he actually laughed.
“Nella, how did I never realize before that you’re this good at getting under my skin?”
Nella really wanted to say that back when she loved him, she could tolerate him, but now, he meant nothing to her.
Still, her good upbringing stopped her from saying that in front of Regis.
Of course, even though she was fed up with Alfred, she still couldn’t bring herself to abandon Regis and
walk away.
So she went over to Regis and said, “Grandpa, it’s already lunchtime. Let’s eat together.”
Regis smiled and nodded. “Alright, alright.”
As he spoke, he shot Alfred another hard glare.
“You go get the car.”
Alfred rubbed the bridge of his nose and nodded. “Alright, Grandpa.”
