Chapter 188 Holding Firm
That one sentence finally made Jasmine laugh through her tears.
“Stop messing around.”
Her eyes reddened again, and the anger she felt toward Alfred quietly grew even stronger.
“Anyone who calls trash like Mason a buddy isn’t a decent person to begin with.”
Finished
She grabbed Nella’s hand tightly. “Nella, you absolutely cannot go soft. If you do, everything you went through before will have been for nothing.”
She knew Nella had loved Alfred for more than ten years, and she was terrified that this foolish girl would melt the second Alfred said something sweet.
“I won’t. We already talked it through. For the next month, I’ll just act as Mrs. Keywood, and once the time’s up, we’ll get divorced.”
In the past, she had never forced Alfred to love her.
By the same logic, Alfred had no right to force her to keep loving him now.
Only now did she suddenly realize that this so-called contract marriage between her and Alfred had always involved a kind of forcing.
From beginning to end, she had been the one forcing things, chasing a dream that was never real.
The only difference was that her persistence had been quiet and gentle, never loud or obvious, so Alfred had never really noticed it.
She didn’t dwell on it and instead asked Jasmine,
“By the way, did you come looking for me for something?”
Jasmine shook her head, sighed softly, and said, “I saw Alfred drop you off earlier, so I came to check on you. That’s all.”
She placed the Americano she was holding onto the desk. “I got this for you. I’m heading back to my clinic
now.”
Nella nodded, then suddenly remembered something and quickly stopped her.
“Don’t tell my parents about any of this. They’re already busy enough. I don’t want them worrying about me
too.”
Jasmine lowered her eyes, hesitated for two seconds, then nodded. “Okay,
“But…”
Jasmine spoke again, unsure. “You’re not planning to tell your parents about you and Alfred divorcing
either?”

Nella smiled casually, like it didn’t matter inch. “They’ll find out once it’s done. There’s no need to them out right now,”
Jasmine nodded. “As long as you know what you’re doing.”
“And what about you and Mason? How are things going with your divorce?”
Jasmine shrugged, her tone light and almost relaxed. “He refuses to agree no matter what, so I’ve already filed the lawsuit. The first hearing should be coming up soon.”
Getting a divorce in the first trial was very difficult.
Jasmine knew that, and Nella knew it too.
That was why Nella planned to fully cooperate with Alfred for the next month and finish out the agreement cleanly.
If a peaceful divorce was possible, it was best to avoid court.
“Good luck.”
Nella smiled as she said it to Jasmine.
Jasmine smiled back. “Good luck to you too.”
That day, Nella didn’t have any surgeries scheduled, so she spent the entire afternoon seeing patients in the outpatient clinic.
