Chapter 261 Left Out in the Spotlight

Nella’s body went stiff when Alfred pulled her close. But with reporters standing nearby and cameras flashing, she had no choice but to endure it.

Alfred walked down the red carpet with Nella toward the main hall, completely ignoring Zoey.

Zoey stood in the shadows. Her eyes were locked on Nella, filled with bitter hatred that almost spilled out.

Alfred had one arm around Nella and the other holding Marshal. He carried the dog securely in his arms, Marshal calm and obedient. To outsiders, they looked like a warm family of three.

To Zoey, the scene was painfully blinding. Alfred treated her like she didn’t exist; Zoey clenched her teeth and rushed in front of him.

“Alfred, why are you so late?” she said sweetly. “I’ve been waiting for you forever.”

Then, right in front of Nella, she added in a suggestive tone, her gaze sharp and hostile.

“Nella, why are you here tonight? Alfred really should have told me first.”

Her words, which sounded like she was the lady of the household, stunned everyone around

them.

What did she mean by that?

What did she mean that Mr. Keywood didn’t tell her?

Excuse me?

Mrs. Keywood needs your permission to attend the company’s annual gala?

The woman had no shame at all. This was embarrassing to watch.

Alfred had been in a good mood all evening because Nella had agreed to come.

But Zoey just had to step forward and cause trouble.

The smile on his face vanished. He looked at Zoey coldly.

He was about to speak when Nella suddenly turned to him.

She smiled calmly and asked, “What’s wrong? Is this gala being organized by Ms. Mack? Was I not given a seat?”

Alfred swallowed the words he was about to say.

Zoey hadn’t expected Nella to respond like that. She froze, her expression stiff.

“You’re the lady of the Keywood Group,” Alfred said, smiling at Nella. “There’s no way your seat would be missing.”

Then he looked at Zoey.

The smile was gone. There was a clear warning in his eyes.

“Let’s go inside,” he said gently to Nella. “Grandpa and the others are waiting.”

He took Nella’s hand and walked toward the hall, leaving Zoey standing alone outside.

Not only Zoey herself, but even the reporters felt ashamed for her.

It was painfully awkward.

As Alfred and Nella walked farther away, the darkness in Zoey’s eyes deepened.

The looks around her felt like silent laughter. Everyone was watching her as if she were a clown.

She never imagined Alfred would bring that bitch to such an important event.
