Chapter 331 Connections
Nella blinked, thrown off. “Wait, what?”
Caleb clapped Wesley on the shoulder, then looked at her with a knowing smile.
“I was planning to introduce you two, but I guess you’ve already met.”

Wesley gave a small nod. His eyes stayed on her face a little longer than they should have.
“We go way back. She’s my junior, after all.”
His tone was smooth, almost too smooth. The word “junior” dragged at the end like it meant more than it should’ve.
Caleb caught the tone instantly. He shot Wesley a sharp glance but didn’t follow it
That was when Nella remembered Caleb had mentioned an old student of his returning from overseas to teach at Apex.
“So that student … was you?”
Her voice rose with realization.
Wesley gave a half-smile and nodded.
“Yeah. Looks like we’re coworkers now. You’ll have to take care of me.”
He held his hand out toward her.
Nella quickly took it and gave a firm shake.
“Nice to have
you back.”
Wesley laughed.
“Aiden, I need a quick word. You got a minute?”
He turned toward Caleb. Caleb gave a nod. “Yeah.”
“So what was it you wanted to talk about, Professor?”
Wesley walked beside Caleb. The easygoing charm he had in front of Nella faded.

Caleb glanced over, didn’t speak at first, then asked, “You were dead set on leaving. What changed?”
Wesley slowed his pace. His eyes softened a bit.
He looked at Caleb and cracked a wry smile.
“Maybe I felt like coming home to find a wife.”
Caleb didn’t answer. He just looked at him, quiet.
“You couldn’t find one over there?”
“I could’ve. But they don’t compare to the ones here.”
Wesley grinned again.
Caleb gave him a light punch on the arm.
“Is that it? Or are you just chasing after someone you already picked?”
Wesley froze for a second, then let out a faint smile.
Caleb narrowed his eyes.
“It’s Nella, isn’t it?”
Wesley’s grin faltered, but he didn’t say anything. He looked off to the side.
Caleb let out a sigh.
“But Nella’s married. She’s a Keywood now.”
Wesley didn’t respond. He repeated the words under his breath like he was chewing them over.
“She’s a Keywood…”
His voice came out low and hollow.
Caleb heard it, glanced back at him, then laid a hand on his shoulder.
“Be smart. Don’t do something you’ll regret. Even if she and Alfred are rocky, they’re still married. Don’t mess with her reputation.”
