Chapter 364 Could There Be Another Reason?
“Nella, are you worried about me?”
Nella didn’t deny it.
Wesley let out a soft sigh and suddenly asked, “Is he okay?”
Nella blinked, then understood who he meant.
“He’s out of danger. If you’re worried about Regis, you can check on him at Everwell.”
Wesley shook his head. “I won’t.”
Nella said nothing, offering no advice.
Then, Wesley looked at her and asked.
“Do you think I’m too cold-hearted?”

Nella was taken aback, then shook her head. “I don’t know what’s between you and Regis. I won’t judge.”
Wesley smiled and asked casually, “Have you always been this rational?”
“Huh?”
Nella blinked, then laughed softly. “Most of the time, I guess.”
She had been rational her whole life, never imagining she’d cling so stubbornly to Alfred.

“When my mom and dad were together, Dad was just a punk. My grandfather, Regis, forced my mom to break up with him. She refused, so the family had someone attack him. Dad was beaten to death and dumped at sea.”
Wesley laughed casually, as if recounting a story about someone else.
“When they pulled him up, his face was swollen beyond recognition. Without a blood sample from the hospital, no one would’ve known who he was.
“When my mom found out, she argued fiercely with Grandpa. In a fit of anger, he kicked her out of the family.
“She was only 20 at the time. Soon after leaving, she found out she was pregnant with me.”
Wesley spoke in fragments. Nella didn’t interrupt.
