The towering men in black suits stood in a line, their postures defensive, as if ready to spring into action the moment Wesley made a move against their boss.

“Mr. Wesley, I’ve done what you asked. When are you going to hold up your end of the deal?”

August poured a cup of Seldorian tea and slid it toward Wesley.

Wesley didn’t touch it. He simply lifted his gaze and looked at the man with cold indifference.

“Where is he?”

August smiled and gestured to one of his men. Moments later, someone approached Wesley and motioned for him to follow.

Wesley rose and followed the man through a winding path until they reached a small, isolated building.

Inside, the place was filthy and falling apart.

At the end of the corridor, a man was bound in chains, kneeling on the ground.

He looked wrecked, but there were no visible injuries on his body.

Hearing footsteps, he lifted his head. The sudden burst of light made him squint and shut his eyes.

When he opened them again and saw who was standing before him, his brown pupils contracted sharply.

“Wesley?”

He straightened up instinctively, trying to stand, only to realize his wrists were shackled.

“How are you holding up, Dad?”

Wesley’s voice was ice-cold, cutting through the air like blade.

The man’s pupils shrank again, fear flooding his eyes in an instant.

It didn’t take long for him to piece it together.

“You teamed up with Moses to betray me?”

No wonder Moses had personally invited him to Seldorih, only to have him seized the moment he set foot on Moses’s territory.

Wesley stood before him with his hands in his pockets, looking down at Lincoln like a hunter watching wounded prey writhe at his feet.

“Mr. Hodge is a smart man. He knows who to partner with to make his plans go smoothly.”

Wesley’s words made Lincoln’s eyes bulge with rage.

“I’m your father! How could you do this to me!”

Wesley’s eyelids twitched. “Of course I see you as my father. Otherwise, you would’ve been dead the moment you tried to kill someone I care about.”

His voice was flat, his eyes as cold as a glacier.

Lincoln’s heart trembled.

He never imagined Wesley would go this far over a woman-betraying the stepfather who had raised him all these years without a second thought.

Worse, he knew Wesley had considered killing him.

The thought sent a wave of panic crashing through him

He scrambled to explain.

“Wesley … it was a misunderstanding. That day, Norris’s car suddenly lost control. That’s why the accident was so bad. I only meant for him to scare her a little. You have to believe me. I never intended to kill that girl.”

Wesley said nothing. He simply stared at Lincoln like he was already looking at a dead man.
