Chapter 403 Why Are You Still Alive?
He looked worn out and messy, with a sadness hanging over his whole body.
No one knew how long he’d been wearing those clothes. They were dirty and torn.
How… How is he here?

The moment that question crossed her mind, a huge force suddenly pulled her into a cold, tight embrace.
“Honey, you’re okay… I’m sorry… I looked for you for so long, but I just couldn’t find you…”
Alfred’s words came out in a mess, shaking hard as his voice sounded next to Nella’s ear.
He held her tightly-so tightly it felt like he wanted to press her into his bones.
Nella looked at Alfred and spoke in a hoarse voice, “Why … are you here?”
His body stiffened a little. After a long pause, he spoke softly, “I came to find you. I can’t leave you here alone anymore.”
Nella opened her mouth. Her thoughts spun wildly, but in the end, not a single word came out.
When she thought about her teammates still buried underneath these rocks, with no one knowing if they were alive or dead, sharp pain stabbed into her heart again and again.
She wanted to ask if Jasmine had been found, but she didn’t even have the courage to ask.
Suddenly, a powerful shove tore Alfred away from her.
Mason stood there, his bloodshot eyes fixated on Nella.
He looked no better than Alfred.
The nails on his hands were lifted and cracked, damaged from digging through broken stones with his bare hands for far too long.
The way he looked at Nella was full of anger, like he wanted to tear her apart.
“Where is Jasmine? Didn’t you promise me you would take good care of her? Where is she?! Why are you standing here alive and well, and where is Jasmine?!”
He yelled at her at the top of his lungs.
Nella was completely shaken by this, her mind instantly went completely blank.
“You promised me! All these people are dead, so why are you still alive?!”
Mason’s voice cracked as he shouted.
Nella wanted to say that she didn’t know this would happen, that she had been kidnapped too.

Chapter 403 Why Are You Still Alive?
But in the end, all her words turned into one quiet sentence. “I’m sorry. I didn’t protect her.”
Even though she was innocent in all of this.
Everyone was dead, killed in this disaster.
And because she was still alive, in the eyes of the families of the dead, that alone became her sin.
Finished
By now, Mason had already lost all reason. He kept asking Nella why she was still alive while Jasmine was dead.
The next second, he was hit with a hard punch.
