Chapter 412 Missed that Chance Again
“Okay… I’ll talk with you,” Alfred said.
Nella leaned her body into Alfred’s arms.
She pressed her back against his chest, giving him something to lean on.
“Slowly let go of your hand,” she said.
Alfred noticed what Nella was trying to do and gritted his teeth. “No.”

Nella said, “I know what I’m doing. Just lean down slowly… My back will hold you. It gives you some time to ease down.”
Expecting that Alfred might refuse, Nella pressed on, “Alfred, if you leave me here alone again, I won’t forgive you!”
“But, Nella…” Alfred still refused.
Nella softened her voice. The thin, almost suffocating air made her even more restless and anxious.

There was a long, desperate silence behind her.
After a while, she heard Alfred’s voice again. “High school?”
Nella bit her palm tightly, trying to hold back her panic and stay as clear-headed as she could.
“Yeah, at the freshman welcome ceremony. You gave the welcome speech for the school.”
Alfred was quiet for a moment after hearing her, as if he was remembering something.

After a while, he said, “What a shame. It would have been so nice if I had met you back then.”
Nella smiled but didn’t respond to that.
Instead, she said, “I fell in love with you at first sight back then.”
She had never thought the words “love at first sight” would ever describe her.
She also never imagined that first sight would bring so much pain and heartbreak.
Another long silence followed.
That hopeless quiet pulled Nella down into a deep, dark despair.
“Alfred…
