Chapter 414 Awake
“Alfred!”
Nella hurriedly reached out to grab Alfred’s hand, but her hand closed on nothing.
“Alfred, where are you going?”
She shouted, her voice choked with tears.
Finished
But it felt like her vocal cords had been cut. No matter how hard she tried, no sound came out. She could only watch helplessly as Alfred turned and walked away, step by step, from right in front of her.
“Alfred!”
Her gut told her that this time, if Alfred left, they might never see each other again.
She threw all her strength into shouting his name.
Her throat felt like it was being ripped apart, the pain sharp and tearing.
“Nella? Nella?”
A familiar voice rang in her ears-full of worry, unease, and care.
The light before her eyes slowly faded, and Nella sank back into darkness.
When the blinding white light pierced her eyes again, she slowly opened them.
“Nella!”
“Nella, you’re awake! You scared us to death!” Felicia’s choked voice rang in her ears.
She turned her head slowly. What met her eyes was Felicia’s worn face and swollen, red eyes.
Beside Felicia was her father, Clifford.
“Mom…”
Her voice was dry and painful, like it had been burned, but full of pain.
“Nella, you finally woke up. You were in a coma for a whole month, do you know that?”
A whole month…
It had been so long….
Nella’s memories were still stuck on being buried under the rubble with Alfred.
The suffocating feeling of having the air pulled out of her lungs was still vivid in her mind.

Chapter 414 Awake
Finished
But after that… What happened?
“Am I … back in Craystan now?”
Nella tried to push herself up, but Felicia stopped her.
“Nella, you’re still very weak. Don’t move too much. Lie down and rest first. We’ll call the doctor to check on you.”
Clifford came closer too.
“Nella, listen to your mom. Just lie down, okay?”
Seeing the exhaustion in her parents’ bloodshot eyes, Nella didn’t argue.
She obediently lay back down.
The doctor arrived soon after.
After checking her over, he said, “She’s fine now that she’s awake. Just stay a few more days in the hospital for a full check-up, and then she can go home.”
Hearing this, Felicia and Clifford both sighed in relief.
“Dad, Mom, I’m okay now. You should go rest. You both look so tired,” Nella said.
