Buried in the Avalanche Our Love Expired novel Chapter 95

Chapter 95 Let’s Go

This was the second time Alfred watched Nella at work.

This time, he was closer. He could see her more clearly.

Her eyes were lowered, her profile turned toward him, focused and intent.

Yet there was a faint sense of distance about her.

As if getting too close would feel like desecration.

Alfred’s wound was long and deep, even cutting into the fascia.

So the stitches had to be done in layers, taking more time and effort.

“Why haven’t you asked how my hand got hurt?”

Alfred had been waiting.

From leaving Emerald Vista Bay all the way until now, he’d been waiting for her to ask.

But Nella kept that detached attitude, not saying a single word.

At this point, Alfred couldn’t hold back anymore and spoke first.

Nella’s hands paused.

She wanted to say it had nothing to do with her, and she wasn’t interested.

But that would sound like she was sulking, and Alfred would overthink again.

So she followed his lead and asked casually, “Right. How did it happen?”

Her tone was perfunctory and indifferent.

There wasn’t a hint of curiosity.

More like she was forced to ask.

He was the one who wanted her to ask, but when she did, Alfred felt a lump of frustration stuck in his chest.

Seeing Alfred stay silent, Nella didn’t care and continued stitching.

Just as she was about to tie the final knot, Alfred suddenly spoke.

“It’s not what you think.”

Nella’s hands paused mid-knot. She looked at him in surprise.

“What?”

The sudden, contextless sentence left her confused.

Alfred locked eyes with her and continued, “When you came home and saw Zoey and me, it wasn’t what you thought.”

After saying that, he stared at her expression.

His heart hung suspended, filled with inexplicable tension and hope.

Nella didn’t respond right away.

She finished tying the knot first, then said indifferently, “I didn’t think anything.”

That detached response made Alfred anxious.

“Nella-”

Before he could continue, the treatment room door was pushed open.

“Oh? Dr. Milo, you’re here.”
