Natalie’s heartfelt question left Sebastian stunned. Given their misconceptions about her at the time, he knew they wouldn’t have believed her.
Seeing his silence, Natalie knew she had her answer. If she had told them she was a doctor, a designer, a race car driver, they wouldn’t have believed her. They would have just ridiculed her even more, laughing at her for being delusional and overestimating herself.
She just smiled, said nothing, and went back to looking at her phone. At least her phone could lift her spirits.
Sebastian’s jaw set so tight it began to ache, the weight of his own regret crushing the air from his lungs. He had been so busy before. Every time he saw her, she and Joanna were arguing. With his patience already thin, he had believed what everyone else said and ignored Natalie’s feelings.
He had never once taken her side.
Arthur Griffith had been willing to send his own sister to prison to protect his wife. Meanwhile, Sebastian had never once stood up for her.
Sebastian didn’t dare to think about it. The more he did, the more his anger and frustration burned.
The hospital room fell silent.
Luna and Sean stared at each other.
Sean knew Luna had risked her life to save him. He already had feelings for her, and now, the way he looked at her was even more tender.
His gaze made Luna feel shy, so she simply closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.
Meanwhile, when Joanna returned to her room, she saw Miles Scott was there too. She frowned. Why was he here again?
She looked pale and forced a weak smile. “Mr. Scott, you’re here.”
Miles smiled as he took in her weakened state, his brow furrowed. “What happened to you? Joanna, I’ve booked you a new movie. The shoot is three months long, so you need to recover quickly. Your public profile is pretty good right now, and the company is ready to push you hard. You have to get better soon. Trust me, you’re going to be a huge star.”
He had fought for the company to sign her because she was backed by Sebastian.
Couldn't she break free from her reliance on Sebastian and succeed on her own?
That had always been her dream. One day, she would rely on her own abilities to reach the position she wanted.
She could do it, even without Sebastian.
“Joanna, get your IV started. I won’t disturb your rest any longer. I’ve sent the work details to your assistant.”
He didn't want to stay in the hospital; he had other things to do.
“Okay! Mr. Scott, thank you for visiting. Once I’m better, Sebastian and I will treat you to dinner.”
That was exactly what Miles wanted to hear. He nodded slightly. “Good, good. Just focus on getting better for now.”
