Inside the lounge, Justin removed his blazer, revealing the pristine white shirt and black vest beneath it.
Alyssa's eyes widened slightly. Justin's clean, white shirt was riddled with slits from shattered glass. Jarring, ghastly bloodstains soaked the fabric, leaving her at a complete loss as to where to begin treating him.
"What's wrong, Dr. Alyssa? Why are you so stupefied?"
Justin curled his lips upward faintly, panting lightly. Even at a time like this, he was still teasing her. He continued, "Didn't someone say she was an amazing surgeon? Aren't you going to treat your patient's external injuries?"
"Thank you, Mr. Beckett. Thank you very much." Alyssa snapped back to her senses and let out a bitter chuckle despite herself. "If you hadn't shielded me earlier, I'd be the one pierced by glass and looking like a porcupine right now."
"Lyse." Justin leaned over the armrest of the couch, resting his sharp chin on his crossed arms. In a warm, low voice, he said, "All my life, I've been seen as a useless weakling. A nobody. Call it a desire to prove myself or whatever else you want.
"I just want to protect you. Now that you and Jasper have separated, I want to protect you and give you a sense of security on his behalf. Even though I'm not a fighter like he is, I'll do my very best. Even if it means sacrificing my own life."
This was, unmistakably, a confession of love.
Yet Alyssa simply stared at Justin from behind, her expression unreadable and unmoved.
A useless weakling? A nobody?
And yet, he had dismembered an innocent woman in his youth. In Mosgravia, he had been capable of making countless people serve him without question.
Even confined to a wheelchair, he had framed Jasper repeatedly and manipulated Jameson to seize control of both the government and the business world of Solana City, plunging everything into chaos.
It was all a facade, masking the devil's real scheme. Justin's performance was flawless, fooling the entire world. But Alyssa saw right through it.
Instead of recoiling from his sudden confession, she offered him a gentle smile. "I don't want you to give up your life for me, Mr. Beckett. What would become of Beckett Group if something happened to you?
"I still intend to do business with you, make a fortune, dominate both the political and business spheres, and reach the pinnacle of success. So please don't put yourself in danger for my sake again. I'm capable of protecting myself."
Justin merely smiled, saying nothing.
Alyssa changed the subject. "That assailant was quite intriguing. Not only did he come here to commit a crime, but he also said so many nonsensical things. Did he really think anyone would believe him?"
Justin's eyes darkened slightly. With a faint smile, he asked, "Do you believe he was lying? What if he was telling the truth? That would mean you're in the company of a terrifying murderer. Aren't you afraid?"

Please give us a proper ending. I can't believe that we reached as far as chapter 2483 and the story is still hanging. We would love at least for Alyssa and Jasper to be reunited without hassles....
Can u post more chapters as promised for 7 chapters a day. Enjoyed the story very much. Hope all is well and thank you in advance....
HI. I am stuck on 2454 for over 3 months now. Will there be any more chapters or we just have to stop waiting for it and forget about this book....
seems to have come to a halt useless...
Where are the chapters please ? Over a week no updates....
Just tell me where to purchase the book I definitely will buy it...
Need more chapters please...
It’s dwindled down to 1 page a day??...
7 chapters a day would be great...
I am trying to figure out why an author writes one page and it is suppose to be a chapter and then the author gets the audience hooked on the story and just drags it on. Follow the rules please, and at least give the 7 chapters daily. Two chapters every other day is a waste of time. Or just release the book and give us the option to buy it....
