Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 320

“Madams, you’re not like them. You care about me. After we say goodbye today, who knows when we’ll see each other again? Please, let me treat you to a meal and we can chat.”

“Please, join us for a meal,” Mrs. Lockwood chimed in. “We’ll arrange for your ride home afterward. Otherwise, Natalie won’t be able to rest easy.”

The two older relatives exchanged a look and decided to stay for dinner.

After the meal, Natalie arranged for a car to take them back to the countryside.

“Natalie, you’ve gone to so much trouble and expense, even arranging a car for us.”

“This car has a smoother ride, so the journey will be less bumpy and more comfortable for you. As for the prescription I wrote, please get the medicine from old Mr. Peterson in town. His remedies are reliable, so you can use them without worry. You two must take good care of yourselves.”

Susan and Linda looked at Natalie with tears welling in their eyes. They couldn’t bear to part with her, and it pained them even more to see her being wronged.

“Natalie, don’t you worry about two old ladies like us. We’ll take care of ourselves. You have to promise to take good care of yourself, too.”

They waved goodbye as the car started. The two elders felt a deep ache in their hearts for Natalie.

“Darren’s family from his hometown are more decent people than Victoria will ever be,” Mrs. Lockwood remarked.

“They’re very kind,” Natalie agreed.

In her five years of marriage to Darren, she had always respected the elders from his hometown.

“I almost burst out laughing at the dinner table, listening to how they put Victoria and Marie in their place.”

Mrs. Lockwood’s lips curved into a slight smile. Victoria and Marie may have looked down on these “poor relatives,” but it was clear the two older women held some sway in the family.

Victoria and Marie were in for it now.

She couldn’t wait to see the show.

It pained Victoria to see him like this. “I’m full,” Hanley said. “Grandma, I’m going to school.”

He seemed almost robotic. Victoria couldn’t help but worry. “Has the boy seen a ghost or something? He looks like he’s had a terrible fright.”

Marie’s expression was unnatural. “I think he’s the same as always. You’re overthinking it. Maybe I should find another chef. Perhaps Hanley doesn’t like this one’s cooking, and that’s why he seems to have no energy.”

“Yes, find another chef. He’s a growing boy, he can’t be eating so little every day. When Natalie was here, Hanley had a great appetite. He could eat two whole bowls of food in one sitting. He was so chubby, and now he’s lost so much weight.”

As soon as the words left her mouth, Victoria noticed Marie’s sour expression and mentally kicked herself. Why did she have to bring that woman up?

As Hanley was about to leave with the driver, Victoria quickly called out to him to change the subject.

“Hanley, isn’t today your school’s parent-teacher conference? Why didn’t you ask your aunt to go with you?”

Hanley froze as if struck by lightning. He stammered, “Is… is it today? I… I forgot.”
