Chasing His Scentless Mate (Caroline) novel Chapter 345

Chapter 345: Chapter 345 His Sanctuary

Ava’s POV

Joseph pulled me into the house, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was a beautiful and spacious home, but what truly took my breath away was the interior. Though unfurnished, the space was filled with countless peach roses, candles, and heart-shaped balloons hanging from the ceiling.

In the center of the living room was a plush cream-colored rug surrounded by colorful throw pillows of various sizes. A small table held strawberries, chocolate, and chilled wine. Joseph was recreating one of our most beautiful nights together. He’d always been extravagant, cliché, and dramatic, but this time he’d taken things to an entirely new level.

"Whose house is this?" I turned to him, still astonished by everything around me.

"It’s our house," Joseph stepped closer.

"I don’t understand," I was completely confused, my brain seemingly frozen by what I was seeing.

"Ava, I bought this house about five years ago," he explained. "Even though I have the pack house, my sister’s family lives there now. I wanted something different from the massive mansion that fits countless servants but still feels lonely."

He looked directly into my eyes. "So I bought this place. Some of my pack members live nearby, and I considered moving in. But I never went through with it. Something was missing in this house."

"Obviously furniture!" I crossed my arms over my chest, making him laugh.

"You know that’s not the issue!" He sighed before continuing. "What was missing was the woman in my life. She didn’t have to be able to serve as the pack’s Luna, didn’t have to be my fated mate, but she had to be someone who could make this place feel like home."

"But you already had that bitch Sophia!" I knew it wasn’t nice to say, but I couldn’t help myself.

"She was never the woman in my life," he said, looking deeply into my eyes.

"What do you want, Joseph?" I asked anxiously.

"Yesterday, when Alpha Kenneth showed up, I panicked. I was terrified of losing you. It also showed me what I truly want." His gaze was filled with emotion as he stared into my eyes. "I want you back in my life, forever."

"I want you with me in this house, waiting for our pups, creating memories. I want to prove to you every day that I regret what I did and that I won’t mess up our relationship again." He wrapped his arms around me.

"Joseph..." I tried to speak, wanting to explain that my relationship with Alpha Kenneth wasn’t what he thought. But he kissed me—a slow, gentle kiss that ended too soon.

"Because I wanted you to know that I want more than just having you in my bed. If I had set up one of the bedrooms, you might not understand that I want all of your life, not just your beautiful body." Joseph smiled, bringing the wine glass to his lips. "And because the sunrise is spectacular from here!" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"That’s clever," I narrowed my eyes at him. "But who says I’m staying until sunrise?"

"A man can hope, Ava!" he smiled with a slight smirk.

"What do you want from me, Joseph?"

"I’ve told you—I want a fresh start. I want you in my life for all my remaining days, I want you to be the mother of my children, and I want to be the person you want by your side in difficult times and good ones. I want you to want me, and I want to be the love of your life. Because you are mine." His words almost made it impossible for me to breathe. "Breathe, Ava!"

"You’re ambitious!" I said, making him laugh.

"Yes, I am! And stubborn!" He took my hand and kissed my palm.

"What if I can’t forget what happened, Joseph?" I asked, feeling my eyes burn.
