Chasing His Scentless Mate (Caroline) novel Chapter 388

Chapter 388: Chapter 388 Awakening

Ava’s POV

I was floating in warmth, suspended in a sea of gentle fog. My consciousness drifted aimlessly as an unfamiliar yet powerful force flowed through my veins, spreading to every corner of my body. Through the haze of my thoughts, a soft yet distinct voice called to me repeatedly.

"Ava... Ava..."

I struggled to follow the sound, groping blindly through the mist until the voice became clearer, more substantial.

"Finally, I can see you," the voice said, filled with emotion.

My mind jolted with surprise. "Who are you?" I asked into the void.

"I’m your wolf , Leila." The voice was tender, intimate. "Yes, we’re finally meeting."

"My wolf ?" I whispered in disbelief. "So I’m not... I actually have a wolf?"

All my life, I’d believed my mixed blood made me defective. Being a wolfless omega in a world of wolves had been my identity, my burden, my shame.

"I’ve always been inside you," Leila explained, her tone tinged with sadness. "Since you were fourteen. I’ve existed all this time, but I was sealed by magic, unable to communicate or reveal myself. Now that the seal is broken, I can finally reach you."

"Sealed?" I latched onto this critical piece of information. "Who sealed you?"

"Your mother, Odelia."

"My mother?" The two words exploded in my mind like thunder. My eyes snapped open, my chest heaving as cold sweat beaded on my forehead.

As my eyes focused, I saw Kenneth sitting by my bed, his face full of worry.

"You’re awake," he said, leaning forward. "How do you feel?"

Instinctively, my eyes went to his chest where the bullet wounds had been. "Kenneth, your injuries... are you okay?"

The image of using every drop of my power to save him was still vivid in my mind. Even now, my first thought was for his safety.

Kenneth smiled warmly. "I’m fine, thanks to you. I’ve recovered much faster than expected." He paused, studying my face intently. "Ava, have you noticed anything different about yourself?"

"Different?" I hesitated, then focused inward.

Suddenly, my senses exploded with information—I could hear the footsteps and breathing of pack warriors patrolling in the distance, insects crawling in the grass outside, even conversations from the far end of the hallway beyond the medical room. The air was thick with the scent of herbs, the moonlit vegetation, and the distant moisture of a stream.

My senses had never been this sharp before.

"My hearing and smell... they’re incredibly keen," I whispered, amazed. "I’ve never experienced anything like this."

"It’s more than that," Kenneth said confidently. "Your power now... you’re no longer an omega, Ava. You’ve become an Alpha."

"An Alpha..." The truth hit me hard as Leila’s voice sounded in my head, "It wasn’t a dream, Ava. I’m really here with you."

Noticing my dazed expression, Kenneth asked gently, "You’ve found your wolf, haven’t you?"

I nodded slowly. "Yes, her name is Leila. She’s been inside me all along, just sealed away."

I paused, looking at Kenneth with a strange sense of connection.

Alphas can sense their children through blood ties, and children can feel their parents’ presence. But with Kenneth, I only felt familiar warmth and closeness—not the tie of shared blood. He really wasn’t my father.

"Everyone in the pack is grateful," Kenneth said softly. "You saved those pups. They all recognize your ability and dedication now."

His gaze focused intently on me as he continued, his tone sincere, "You’ve been staying here for almost a month. Have you considered officially joining my pack?"
