Chosen By The Cursed Alpha King (Emilia) novel Chapter 112

MAXIMUS’S POV

“What the fuck do you mean she’s gone?!”

My voice thun ered through the office like a volcano about to erupt.

I could feel my blood boiling under my skin, my putse hammering against my temples.

Lucien stood across from me, stiff and alert, but even he flinched at the roar in my voice.

“We went to her cabin like you ordered,” he said carefully, “but there wash’t any sign of her. The place was completely empty.”

Empty.

Vanished.

Gone.

I felt something snap inside me-like a thread stretched too tight finally breaking apart.

My hands clenched on the edge of my desk until my knuckles ached. I forced myself to breathe, but every inhale felt like fire.

This… this was it.

This was the goddamn confirmation that Soraya had been lying to me for years.

Playing me.

Twisting me.

Manipulating me.

But why?

Why the hell would she do this?

I stared down at my desk but didn’t actually see it. My vision blurred around the edges, the anger too sharp, too deep.

My parents trusted her.

I trusted her.

She told me she had a way to heal my curse. She told me Raina was my second chance mate. She told me Emilia carried the spirit of Milandra and that if I didn/t act, that evil would destroy the kingdom.

Lie after lie after lie.

. And I-blind, naive, desperate-believed every single goddamn word

My jaw clenched until it hurt.

I finally turned to Lucien. “Search the entire kingdom,” I said, my voice low and dangerously quiet. “Every goddamn pack. Every territory.

Every hidden corner. Search until you find Soraya. Wherever the fuck she’s hiding, drag her out.”

Lucien nodded sharply. “We’re already on it. We sent messages across all the packs. Anyone who spots her knows she’s a traitor.”

A traitor.

The word hit like a stone in my chest.

“We’ll find her, Your Majesty,” Lucien added firmly.

I pressed a hand against my forehead, dragging my fingers through my hair. The pressure didn’t help. It only made the headache worse, Rage mixed with confusion, and under it all-shame. A deep, cutting shame.

“I can’t believe this,” I muttered. “I let her make a fool of me. All these years, and I didn’t see it. Not once.”

“Your Majesty-”

“Why would She do this? Why would she lie about something so important? My parents trusted her more than anyone. She told them she would guide me. Heal me.”

Lucien stayed silent, his eyes heavy with concern.

She told me Raina was my second chance mate,” I continued, pacing the room. The more I thought about it, the sicker I felt. “Said she was the only one who could cure my curse. She convinced me that the bond I felt was real. But it was all bullshit.”

I turned away, fists clenching again.

“She deceived me into thinking Emilia had Milandra’s spirit inside her.

She wanted me to fear Emilia. To push her away.”

My throat tightened painfully.

“What if I had listened?” I whispered. “What if I had agreed to the ritual?

What if her plan of removing the ‘spirit’ from Emilia was just an excuse to kill her?”

The thought hit me like a sledgehammer.

Killing Emilia.

Emilia-the only woman who ever truly saw me. The woman who anchored me when I was drowning.

My real mate.

I froze mid-step, the world tilting dangerously.

No.

No, no, no.

Why would Soraya want Emilia dead?

Unless…

Unless Emilia had something Soraya feared. Something Soraya didn’t want anyone to discover.

My heart lurched into my throat.

Checked every corner. Empty

Looked around the sitting area. Empty.

“No. No, no, fuck-no.”

The panic clawed up my throat, sharp and suffocating.

I ran back into the bedroom, breathing hard, vision blurring.

Where was she?

She was here when I left.

She was smiling. Warm. Safe.

She promised she’d rest.

And now…

Now she was gone.

“My King-” Lucien started behind me.

“She was right here,” I snapped. My voice was shaking. Actually shaking. “She was right fucking here!”

Lucien’s eyes suddenly glazed over-his connection to the mind-link /flashing across his face.

I froze.

“What is it?” I demanded.

Lucien didn’t speak at first. His jaw clenched, tension rolling off him Like thick static. Then slowly-too slowly-his eyes refocused on me.

When he spoke, his voice was tight.

“Your Majesty…”

The world seemed to hold its breath.

“Rogues are trying to break through the east border,” Lucien said.”And… there are many of them.”

Everything inside me froze.

Soraya gone.

Emilia missing.

Rogues invading.

The perfect fucking storm.

My heart slammed once-hard.
