Chosen By The Cursed Alpha King (Emilia) novel Chapter 132

Maximus’s POV

I leaned against the doorway of our bedroom, arms crossed, watching her like she was the only thing in the entire world worth looking at.

Because she was.

Emilia stood by the window, arms folded tight under her chest, staring out at the snow falling over the mountains like she was personally offended by every single flake. Her brown hair spilled down her back in messy waves, and the firelight painted gold across her skin. She was wearing one of my shirts again and nothing else. My favorite sight in the universe.

She’d been grumpy for days. Not just normal grumpy; this was next-level, adorable, fire-breathing little dragon grumpy. Yesterday she yelled at me because I breathed too loud. The day before that, she cried because the bread was too crusty. I didn’t even try to understand anymore. I just let her scold me, kissed her forehead, and waited for the storm to pass.

Today’s storm was apparently about the female warriors.

“Emilia, love,” I tried again, soft as I could, “I said they’re doing well in training. That’s all. I swear on the moon, I barely looked at them.”

She snorted, loud and dramatic, and turned her face away even more.

“You said they were strong. And fast. And’impressive footwork’. I heard you, Maximus.”

“I was talking about their fighting stance!”

“Go admire your she-wolves then,” she muttered, chin high, arms tighter. “Leave me here. Alone. Unwanted. Ugly. Fat. Whätever.”

My heart did that stupid flip it always did when she got possessive.

Goddess, I loved her jealous. Loved the way her eyes flashed silver when she thought someone might steal even a sliver of my attention. jo_bn_ib.c”o:m As if the entire world wasn’t already gray the second she wasn’t Looking at me.

“Baby,” I said, stepping closer, “please.”

“Go away.”

You know you’re the only one I love. The only one I see. The only one l want. Always.

She rolled her eyes so hard I was scared they’d stick. Then she spun around, glaring at me with those gorgeous stormy eyes. “You’re so annoying.”

“I know,” I said, grinning like an idiot.

couldn’t help it. I closed the distance in three steps and wrapped my arms around her from behind. She stiffened for half a second classic Emilia stubbornness, then melted against my chest like she was born to fit there. She always did.

“You’re the only woman I’ll ever have eyes for,” I whispered against her hair. “The she-wolves are just-”

She twisted in my arms and smacked my chest. Hard. “You’re talking about them again!”

“Fuck, baby, no-” I laughed, catching her wrists gently. “That came out wrong. I’m shutting up now.”

She huffed, cheeks pink, lips pouty. I wanted to bite that bottom lip until she moaned my name.

I pulled her closer instead, pressing my forehead to hers. “Come on, my love. You own my heart. You know that. You’ve known that since the first time you looked at me like I was worth saving.”

Her scowl softened, just a little. I lifted her hand and kissed her knuckles, slow and reverent. She let me. Progress.

Then, out of nowhere, her face went pale. She yanked her hand from mine, pressed both palms to her stomach, and bolted for the bathroom.

“Emilia?” Panic hit me like a war hammer.

I was right behind her. She barely made it to the toilet before she was heaving. I dropped to my knees, gathering all that wild hair in my hands, holding it back, rubbing slow circles on her back the way she liked when she wasn’t feeling well

“It’s okay, love. I’ve got you. Just breathe.”

She retched again, and my chest ached. I hated seeing her hurt. Hated it more than anything.

When it finally passed, I helped her stand on shaky legs. She leaned over the sink, rinsing her mouth, splashing cold water on her face. ! kept one hand on her waist, steadying her.

“You okay, baby?” I asked quietly.

She nodded, still pale, but didn’t answer. I was about to pick her up and carry her to bed whether she liked it or not when-

I heard it.

Tiny. Fast. Impossible to miss for a wolf king with senses sharper than steel.

A heartbeat.

“Mine,” I whispered, voice rough with wonder. “My forever. The mother of my children.”

She smiled, eyes shining, and laid her hands over mine on her still-flat belly.

“Mine,” she said back. “My king. The father of my children.”

I smirked, couldn’t help it. “Want me to remind you exactly how I got you pregnant in the first place?”

She gasped, smacked my shoulder. “You’re sleeping on the couch tonight. I haven’t forgotten about your warrior fangirls.”

I groaned dramatically. “Baby, no, come on-”

She stormed out of the bathroom well, waddled, really, because she was laughing too hard to walk straight. I chased after her, pleading my case.

“I didn’t even look, I swear! My eyes were closed the whole training session!”

“Liar!” she yelled back, already crawling into our bed and burrowing under the blankets like an angry little badger.

I dove in after her, wrapping her up from behind, kissing her neck until she was giggting and squirming and pretending she wasn’t melting.

My heart was so full it hurt.

My life was perfect.

I had my mate. My queen. My light. And now; now we were growing our family.

The future stretched out ahead of us, bright and wild and beautiful.

And I couldn’t wait to live every single second of it with her.
