Chosen By The Cursed Alpha King (Emilia) novel Chapter 18

I should have killed her, nobody dares talk to me like that and live, but that woman-that woman looked me in the eyes and told me ‘no’.

No one has ever raised a hand on me, not even my father when he was alive. Yet she slapped me.

Hard.

The sting didn’t matter.

It was the look in her eyes that set me ablaze. Fire-unfiltered, rebellious fire. Not fear. Not submission. Not the broken obedience I’d been used to. No. This one had claws, and she wasn’t afraid to use them-even when she was backed into a corner with no weapon and no way out.

She wasn’t like the others.

She was chaos bottled up in the perfect frame of a wolf girl who had no idea just how dangerous I was.

And it infuriated me.

I stood in the closet, leaning both palms against the wall, breathing through clenched teeth. My lip still tingled from the slap -sharp and swift like a dagger to my pride. I tasted blood. Let it settle on my tongue like a promise.

She would pay for that.

But not with pain. Not with bruises or chains. That’s what she expected. What she was used to. She didn’t understand the art of war-not the kind I played. The kind where you break a person from the inside out. The kind where you make them want to surrender.

And that was exactly what I intended to do.

Not because I had to.

Because I wanted to.

Because something about her had awakened a side of me I thought I’d buried long ago-a hunger I didn’t even know still existed.

I closed my eyes and exhaled slowly, letting the echo of her voice repeat in my head.

‘You don’t own me.’

No one ever dared say that to me.

But her? She stood there with her chest heaving and defiance pouring off her in waves, as though she had nothing to lose. Maybe she didn’t. Maybe that’s what made her dangerous.

My hands clenched as I thought of the way she spoke to me…like I wasn’t the king everyone feared but a little boy she was calling on his bullshit. 1

I didn’t have it figured out yet, but all I knew was that being close to her calms my beast and until I can figure out why that happens she’ll be mine.

Whether she likes it or not.

She didn’t know it yet, but she was already mine. Because the moment I set my eyes on something, I won’t stop until I claim it completely.

I looked at my reflection in the mirror and all I could see was a man slowly losing himself.

I could feel it, everyday that passes I lose a thread of my humanity to my beast and it was only a matter of time before I finally give it full control. copied from jo:bn:ib_._c:o:m, visit for faster updates.I sighed in frustration before walking out of the closet. Her scent was still thick in the air like a balm to a sore wound and I inhaled deeply.

I don’t know what she was or why my beast chose her but I’m going to keep her close, she’s the only form of relief I have right now.

Until the moon goddess is merciful and gives me a second chance mate.

The double doors to my room opened and I stepped out. My Beta was already waiting for me.

“Keep an eye on that girl, she’s up to something.” I said and he nodded,

“What deal did you make with her?”

“It doesn’t matter, she said no.”

Lucien stopped and turned to look at me in shock.

“She said no to you? Is she…”

“I wouldn’t have asked you to keep an eye on her if she was dead,” I said as we continued walking, the guards and servants bowing in respect as we passed.

“But it’s unbelievable, nobody has ever said no to you…you’re the king, the infamous king Maximus.”

“She’s a tough one, she claims she isn’t scared of me.” I said as we took another turn, walking down the hallway leading to my office.

“Is that a good thing?” Lucien asked,

“We’ll see,” I said before walking into my office with Lucien following behind me.

I walked to my chair and sat down, while Lucien took the chair in front of me.

“Oh and by the way I did some background research, she’s Alpha Gregor’s daughter.”

“What?” I asked in shock and Lucien nodded,

“Yeah, I know, why would an Alpha give up his daughter when he knows she might likely die? Unless he hates her or was hoping she could be your cure and gain favor from you.”

I couldn’t help but sneer in disgust but I wasn’t any different from him, they send the girls and I do the killing.

“Your Majesty, I don’t know what it is, but there’s something special about that girl, I can feel it.”

There was silence in the office for a while as I let his words settle in my mind.

He was right, there was something special about her but it was so hard to figure out. She was like that piece of a puzzle that you didn’t know where to fit it. No matter how hard you try.

“There’s another problem,” Lucien said, bringing me out of my thoughts.

“What is it?” I asked,

“Rogues, they’ve been attacking packs and killing people.”

My jaw ticked. Those bastards.

“Call for an emergency summit, I want every Alpha to be present, anyone who doesn’t come, take away their title.”

“As you wish Your Majesty.”

I turned to my laptop screen, but I felt Lucien’s eyes on me.

“What is it?” I asked, narrowing my eyes.

Lucien didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he glanced at the door… then back at me. And I saw it-the shift in his expression. The hesitation wasn’t fear. It was caution.

He exhaled like he was about to say something that could change everything.

And then finally he spoke;

“I don’t know, Your Majesty, but I think…I think she might just be your cure.
