108 Lock Her Up

  1. Lock Her Up

LUCIEN’S POV

Andrea wasn’t my son.

He was my brother.

My half-brother.

From the man I’d hated my whole life. The man I’d killed. The man who was somehow still alive.

The room felt like it was closing in, walls pressing closer, air turning stale. My hands shook at my

sides, fists clenching and unclenching like they needed something to crush.

Naomi sat there on the floor, tears streaming down her face, looking small and broken-but I didn’t buy it. Not for a second. This woman had lied to me and almost shattered everything I had with

Adele.

“So you knew,” I said, voice low, dangerous. “You knew I wasn’t the father. But you decided to pin it

on me anyway. Why?”

She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, still rubbing her throat where I’d grabbed her. Her

breaths came in shaky gasps, like she was one wrong word away from falling apart.

“I didn’t have a choice,” she whispered, voice hoarse. “He asked me to…he threatened me!”

Threatened her.

The words hit like a slap.

“You didn’t have a choice?!” I roared, stepping closer, towering over her.

The tension in the room spiked-sharp, electric, like the air before a storm breaks. My wolf howled inside, claws scraping, demanding blood.

“You f*****g almost ruined my relationship with my mate! My mate is missing-gone-and you

want to act innocent? Like you’re the victim here?”

She flinched, scooting back like she wanted to disappear. Her hands trembled as she pushed her

hair out of her face.

“He… he told me to come into your life. When I said no, he threatened to kill me. He’s been forcing me for over a year-hitting me when I refuse to do what he wanted. He told me you didn’t deserve anything. You didn’t deserve happiness. And when he found out you had a mate… his torment

became worse. So much worse.”

Her words spilled out faster now, desperate, like she was trying to build a wall between us with

them.

“He knew Andrea looked exactly like you when you were young. He told me to come back. To say

the child was yours. To make you believe it. To tear you apart from the inside. Wreck your life.”

I stared at her.

The room spun slowly.

Every word she said made sense in the worst way-fitting the puzzle pieces I’d been scrambling to put together. My father-alive, pulling strings from the shadows, using Naomi like a puppet. Using Andrea like bait. To get back at me. To make me suffer like he’d always wanted.

But Adele.

My mate.

Gone.

Because of him.

Because of her.

“I don’t have time for your f*****g explanations,” I snarled, grabbing the front of her shirt and

hauling her to her feet. She gasped, hands flying to my wrists. The tension coiled tighter-my muscles burning, her eyes wide with terror. “Where the f**k did he take Adele?!”

She shook her head frantically, tears flying. “I swear I don’t know!”

“Liar!” I shook her-hard-her head snapping back. “Dammit, if you know, just f*****g tell me! If you

know where the hell he took her-!”

“I don’t know!” she screamed, grabbing at her hair like she was ripping it out. “I don’t…I swear, I

don’t!”

I released her.

She dropped to her knees, sobbing, hands tangled in her hair.

I ground my teeth so hard my jaw ached. Hands clenched into fists, nails biting into my palms until

I felt blood. The rage boiled-hot, relentless, blinding. If I didn’t find Adele soon enough… if that sick bastard did something to her… hurt her to get to me…

I ran my fingers through my hair, pulling hard, pacing the small room like a caged beast. Back and forth. Back and forth. My boots thudded against the floor, each step echoing my heartbeat-fast, frantic, out of control. I couldn’t think straight. Couldn’t breathe right. The walls felt like they were

closing in, the air too thick, too heavy.

Where?

Where would he take her?

My father-alive, scheming, twisted. He’d faked his death somehow. Hidden for years. Built this web of lies with Naomi. Used Andrea-his own son as a weapon. To destroy me.

But Adele…she was the key now. The way to make the suffer most.

He’d want somewhere Isolated. Somewhere he could control. Somewhere with meaning-maybe to twist the knife deeper.

Think, dammit. Think.

Naomi was still on the floor, rocking slightly, muttering to herself. “I didn’t know… I didn’t know he’d

take her…”

I stopped pacing, whirling on her. “You didn’t know? You brought this monster back into my life! You lied about Andrea…my brother…goddess, my brother-and now Adele’s paying for it!”

She looked up, face streaked with tears. “I was scared! He-he said he’d kill me if I didn’t. Kill

Andrea too. I had no choice!”

“Everyone has a choice!” I shouted, slamming my fist into the wall again. Pain shot up my arm, but

it cleared the fog a little. “You chose to hurt an innocent kid-your own son-to save your skin. You

chose to lie to me, to manipulate me, to almost break my mate and me apart. And now she’s gone

-because of him. Because of you.”

She sobbed harder, curling in on herself. “I’m sorry.. I’m so sorry…”

Sorry.

The word meant nothing.

Not when Adele was out there. Alone. With him.

The man who’d taught me pain like it was a language.

What would he do to her?

The thought sent ice through my veins-freezing the rage into something colder, sharper.

I couldn’t just pace here. Couldn’t waste more time

But going blind? Charging out without a direction? That was suicide. He’d want that-me frantic, desperate, making mistakes.

Where?

Think like him.

Twisted. Vengeful. He’d want somewhere that hurt me. Somewhere with memories.

The house.

Our old family house. Abandoned after I killed him. Boarded up. Forgotten.

But close enough to the palace to taunt me. Far enough to hide.

My pulse spiked.

That had to be it.

I turned for the door.

Naomi’s voice stopped me-small, broken. “Lucien wait.”

I didn’t look back. “What?”

“He… he mentioned something once. About settling old scores. About the place where it all

started.”

The house.

Yes.

I yanked the door open.

I called a guard.

“Lock her up,” I said, jerking my head toward Naomi “No one talks to her. No one.”

One of them nodded, stepping inside.

I walked away.

The tension wrapped around me like chains-pulling tighter with every step.

Adele.

I’m coming.

Hold on.

I’d find her.

And when I did, my father would wish he’d stayed dead.
