Parker
He’d thought that statement about Vex’s eye colour from Venus, it was odd, but now as he listened to Belladonna, he understood it all, even why his own wolf’s eyes had changed from green to grey.
Freya had changed his fate, stopped him from scenting out Belladonna. She had shut or closed off the gift from Selena herself, to try and protect Belladonna’s wolf from the unknown. She’d likely not been able to do that with Belladonna’s mother, or he doubted it.
But she had been able to do that with Belladonna and her wolf, likely because she had been there for the birth of her. It was likely he thought that Freya had not been there to save Belladonna’s mother, as she probably wanted to, not there for her birth, and the woman had likely suffered like so many other Citron Wolves before her.
Freya had stayed with Belladonna until she found a place Freya knew she would be protected and safe. Would have a Mate that would never betray her and see harm come to her. It had taken nearly 20 years for Freya to see that he, Parker and his wolf, Vex, were in fact the right choice and that her own actual Goddess-Gifted Mate, granted by Selena, wouldn’t find out what she was only to slave her off because of
her wolf’s abilities.
She’d punished him for not being true to his heart, for loving Belladonna how one should, openly. She’d given him a taste of what Belladonna’s own life had been like for her inside his pack. She’d made him feel he was nothing more than a thing that wasn’t wanted or loved. Given him back everything that Belladonna had felt during their Mate Bond.
She’d also not just willingly given Belladonna up to him either, she had stayed with her, to see how he was going to be once he got his freedom from the she-wolf she’d given to him to test him; Carina. Freya wanted to know if he’d learned her lesson for him. Had he grown as a man, from past mistakes that he’d
made?
Would he be able to acknowledge that he loved Belladonna, tell her that and respect her, give her everything she wanted and needed. The time to make her own choices and see if she wanted to accept him back. Accept it, if she didn’t want him even after he’d found out what her wolf type was?
He had done all of that, had been willing to let her go and felt it, how much pain it had been causing him the day he’d scented her out, because he’d truly been trying to let her go, even before that moment had been known to him. Wanted to give her everything she wanted, even if it caused him pain and suffering,
the loss of her.
Freya may have left Belladonna, but she’d not released her attention from him. Selena had told him Freya would come back and punish him, so Freya had still been keeping track of him in that week when Belladonna had been in the hospital. Her wolf dormant and only when Belladonna had told him that very morning she wanted her wolf to have the right to find her Goddess Gifted and that she didn’t want to be his Chosen Mate, had he understood her.

He’d accepted her words as hard as they’d been to hear, and made the decision to give her what it was she wanted. Had known he was truly trying to let her go, would give her the freedom she craved. Even offered to vet any Goddess-Gifted Mate she got so that she would be safe inside another pack.
He’d shown Freya in that moment, he truly loved her and would never cause her harm. Was willing to let her go even knowing what she was, but still wanted to protect her even though she would no longer be his. Then and only then had Freya and Selena actually released Venus to Belladonna and their true Mate Bond had started to reform between them. He’d proven his trustworthiness to Freya, who’d caused him pain and suffering, in order to see if he and his wolf were truly worthy of being a Mate to a Wolf of Destiny.
Now he knew that he was, and likely not just by Selena, who’d chosen him in the beginning, but now her wolf Freya; Selena’s tool of vengeance had also now chosen him to be their Mate. Would entrust Belladonna and Venus to him and Vex.
Parker had a feeling that Vex’s eyes were going to change back to green when they shifted, because he and his wolf were her true Mate, a True Alpha that would do everything to protect her, always.
Vex ripped out of him and his wolf stood before Belladonna and the children, and he felt it, the very same hot and tingling sensation behind his wolf’s eyes, like he had done when he was just 15. It kind of burned and itched and irritated him quite a bit.
When this had happened to him before all those years ago, he was now willing to bet it was going to have happened on the day Belladonna was born, likely just minutes after she was born. He didn’t recall the actual date or time, but there would be a record of it in his own pack file. He would check it later.
Freya had claimed her to protect her, likely from her father as well as himself, her own Goddess-Gifted Mate. Something he’d read in that book on Citron Wolves, that even a Goddess-Gifted could betray her, and slave her out. Freya had done what she thought needed doing to protect Belladonna and Venus, right up until the very moment she no longer needed to.
Selena likely knew long before Freya that he was never going to harm Belladonna, would protect her always, but Freya, so stubborn needed solid, without a single doubt proof, had sat back and waited even
after she’d been removed.
Their own Goddess’ wolf was so very protective of her wolves, not the human counterpart he didn’t think. That was Selena’s domain, but the wolves, they belonged to Freya, and she was fiercely protective of her own kind when it truely needed to be done.
