Chapter 104

(Eli)

“Stay with me,” I pleaded Creed in between kisses.

His mana was flooding the room; he was losing control. Every mana had colors and he had two of them. Inky black and bloody red. The colors were thick, preventing me from seeing anything else aside from him, aside from black and red, aside from his rage and darkness that were clinging to me, swallowing me.

The colors were too much. Too brutal. Too unhealthy. Too spiteful. If it were from other people, I would have run away, screaming bloody murder.

But it was Creed, the alpha who rarely lost control.

Something must have happened while I was asleep, something about my security. It was always about me. He rarely reacted when it came to other people and things, except when it concerned me. What was it? Did my stalker get through his mana barrier?

What did he see? What did he hear?

“Eli!”

I could hear the voices outside my room from my mom and my uncles. Alistair and Aramides were with them too, pounding the door. I was sure the rest of the dragons residing on this island had also seen the colors escaping through my windows and had felt the violent surge of mana in my room.

“What the hell is happening inside?!”

“Black, I am commanding you to open the door this instant!”

“Are you safe, sweetheart?” mom croaked.

“This is a rather complex spell, Your Excellency. I am afraid that only the caster can take this off,” Alistair explained. “This is connected to Black himself. Untangling this forcibly might make the situation worse.”

“I don’t care. I am sending that bastard to prison after this. Summon Aurelia-”

“No!” I screamed as I held Creed’s face. They cannot take him away from me. What if Aurelia and the others hurt him in the process? Creed was not going anywhere, especially not to prison. Not on my watch.

He could not hear them right now. He was unraveling. The black and red smoke surrounding him was getting stronger, heavier.

“Creed and I are fine. We will handle this together. Please leave us for a moment.”

“Why the heck isn’t he answering?” Uncle Anson yelled back.

“Just go. Please!”

“I hate to break it to you, but your guard is turning rogue, Elianna. I am only giving you until tonight. This much mana is not safe for you and for the baby. This is insubordination. If this continues after the clock hits twelve, I am breaking this barrier and will be taking Creed away whether you like it or not.”

“Then you’d have to take me away too, Uncle,” I replied without looking away. “Because I’m going with him whether you like it or not.”

They gasped. They were shocked and so was I.

Knowing myself, I would always choose comfort over anything, over uncertainties. But tonight, I was choosing him. Because I… loved him.

My eyes widened at the thought as the realization settled in my chest.

And with that, came the acceptance.

It wasn’t even hard to accept, like it was just in front of me all along, waiting for me to see it for what it was, to recognize it.

They believed he was a threat to my health. This much mana could really harm anyone. I was sure it was slicing through them, strangling them. Without their own mana, they might be unsafe from this outburst.

And yet, the mana swirling around me was warm and gentle on the skin like a lover’s caress and not the inferno the rest of the people on this island must be experiencing.

Creed was exuding so much power, strength, and vulnerability all at the same time. I heard my family’s footsteps fading away. Slowly, I took his face in my hands, enveloping him with my own warmth. When I was the one who needed this kind of reassurance, this proud alpha bent his knees for me. He would punish the dragons for me. Creed would simply break the law for me. Hell, he changed his entire self for me and became a hybrid just to be here with me.

I couldn’t punish anyone for him. I was not that strong at the moment. But I could love him the way I knew how. I could hold him like this, embrace his demons, and kiss his darkness. I couldn’t love him just as intensely, but maybe he didn’t need that much intensity.

Maybe what he needed tonight was to be loved gently.

Creed responded to my kisses like he needed them in order to breathe. Every single furniture was breaking; the walls were cracking, the chandelier shattered. It was a total madness outside this bed brought by the beast in him. But on the bed, he was a lover. Gentle. Caring. Giving. When I stroke his chest, he remembered to hold me tenderly.

It was then that I’d come to understand.

Creed didn’t respond to the dragon king’s command even if he held the highest authority in the world. He wouldn’t respond to anyone else. Because he was not the one he was serving.

It was me.

Always me.

The tears slid down my cheeks. He groaned as if in pain, as if even in his condition, he didn’t like to see me cry. He quickly wiped them away with his lips, making me feel so much loved despite this madness.

“What do you need, Creed?” I asked as I dropped kisses on his throat.

He didn’t respond, just growled, but he held me a little tighter, as he owned my mouth once more. I returned his kisses, my hands on his chest, as I released my mana. The blue and golden glow danced around his red and black, creating a multitude of colors that was uniquely ours.

That was then when I finally saw them.

The secrets he had been keeping from me.

His cuts. His wounds. He had several of them on his body, the proof of the seven-day procedure he had to go through to change himself. It had been a while, but they hadn’t healed yet. He must have been concealing them with his mana all this time and since I never used my own powers with him, I didn’t see them. He’d been guiding and serving me every day while carrying these many wounds on his body.

“Creed,” I whispered as soon as he released my mouth. And then I gave him my first command. “Feed on me.”

It pained me that I could have healed him a long time ago. He knew I could do it. He didn’t ask for anything, never demanded anything, but stayed by my side.

Whoever said he was going rogue? Here was his beast, following my orders diligently. I angled my neck. I felt his solid arms wrapped around me as he buried his fangs in my throat.

Finally.

I could do something for him. I shut my eyes through the pain that didn’t last, because it was immediately followed by something else.

Now the inferno was no longer just around us, it was in me.

I didn’t know the effect of a mate’s bite could be this strong. It was aphrodisiac. I could tell that it had the same effect on him. He was as hard as a rock.

“Take me, love,” I begged. “I’m all yours.”

He didn’t let me beg for long. Soon enough, Creed’s mouth was all over my body, ravishing, worshiping, biting, and taking. Since his first day on this island, I realized I’d only been receiving and taking from him. This time, I was giving him the reins.

I was giving him my surrender.

He kissed, licked, and bit my breasts before his mouth had gone down to my belly. He paused, gave it a tender kiss, before spreading my legs and making me come with his mouth like a man who was denied food for a long time.

“Creed!”

Before I could come, he withdrew his merciless tongue and lifted my thighs and pressed them together over

his shoulder. He rammed himself between my legs, his cock rubbing against my core with each ruthless thrust.

He didn’t penetrate me, but it felt just as intense, with both of us coming hard.

When I met his eyes, it was back to being gray.

God, I missed those eyes.

Our mana colors still tangled together as he blinked and looked around. “Fuck. What have I done?”

“You loved me,” I said, cupping his cheeks. “That’s what you did.”

Panic crossed his eyes. “No. I was a bastard. How could I do that to you? Are you okay?”

“How about you? Are you okay?” I repeated the same question.

“Yes.”

“Then I am too.” I smiled. “Welcome back, love.”

Creed froze. Seconds later and I was able to see that smile again, the smile that he only reserved for me. “You own me, Elianna.”

I smiled wider because I already knew.

Now that the colors were fading, I glanced at the clock. It was ten minutes before midnight. We pulled this through like I said we would.

Because we were together.
