Satan looked conflicted. I figured he would react this way. Someone as formidable as him must have never begged for anything in his life unlike me who constantly had to beg my abusers for a single bread, for a bottle of water.
Each time there were a couple visiting the orphanage, I begged for their attention. I begged to be taken. I begged to be accepted. They would show affection and then would end up taking another kid after hearing what my parents had to endure because of me and my curse.
Every day I was in the House of Lemadon, I begged the goddess for mercy that didn’t come.
Satan didn’t know that kind of helplessness. He was wealthy and powerful his whole life. Wherever he went, he was treated with the utmost care and respect.
I remembered the professor he fucked and the alphas who mocked my worth.
“If you are going to beg, I want you to do it in front of many people, Satan. And I might reconsider.”
It was as good as saying goodbye to our mate bond because a man like him wouldn’t do that for a person like me. I turned to Aidan, leaving Satan standing there like a statue. “I want to wash up and then leave. There’s a place I really want to go today.”
He caressed my cheeks. “Whatever you want, spitfire.”
Sebastian handed me brand-new jeans and a shirt after I washed up. I was stunned when he gently pushed me towards the armchair and then casually bent his knees in front of me. He put my feet onto his lap and put my socks on for me. “You don’t have to do this. I’m not a handicap-”
“Allow me, Shorty. Allow me to serve you.”
“Why?”
“Because I struck a deal with the Moon Goddess. I told her that if you wake up. I will serve you like a knight would to his queen. I would put you before myself. That I won’t allow anyone to ever hurt you again.”
His voice buckled for a split second. Again, there was something in his eyes that I could finally relate to. Torment. But why? There was a difference in the way he looked at me today.
As if he was looking at my soul.
And he looked sorry.
“You’re going to leave me one day,” I whispered.
“Then I’m going to stick around and prove you wrong, Shorty.”
“When you find out who I am and what I did, you won’t be able to do that.”
“I’m going to have to surprise you then” He tightened my shoelaces. “There”
After he was done, only then did he start to shower
Aidan appeared with a glass of chocolate drink “Where do you want us to take you?”
“To my hometown.”

I shook my head and finished my drink. “I think I’ll only throw up if I try. You and Aidan can have it first though. I don’t mind”
They didn’t stop for a meal though. There was already a mage waiting for us at the doorstep. I stopped myself from enjoying the view, from getting fascinated by the collection of paintings, vases, and furniture that I knew can only be seen in this place. They were clearly among the things Satan hoarded through the years.
A single painting looked like it was enough to buy someone a sprawling mansion. A sad smile curled my lips. I didn’t even get to own anything. Even the name I was currently using was not mine. I didn’t have a house or a car. I didn’t even have a centavo under my name. And to think I had the guts to promise my dad that I’d take care of him.
His daughter was useless.
Before my thoughts could turn even darker, I stepped out of the mansion without looking back. I knew Satan was watching. Lucky bastard. He got to have all these to himself. He should just stay wherever he was. I’d only feel smaller if I were to see him again.
The alphas and the mage were quiet as I instructed them where to go. Through the teleportation spell, we got there in less than ten minutes. My eyes burst into tears when I realized that the house dad and I used to live in was no longer there.
There was now a clothing store in the very place which held our memories, our photos, and everything that we held dear. When he died, one of the betas from his old pack said he would process all the necessary papers and that he would take care of me only for him to send me to the orphanage. He must have sold the house.
But he could have at least saved the photos.
“It’s gone,” I sobbed. “Our house is gone.”
(Aidan)
Ari was falling apart. For the second time, I watched someone who had already lost so much, lose something again. I covered her eyes to stop her from seeing the store. I threw a swift glance at my enforcer who secretly tailed us. He nodded and approached the store and its owner while I spun my mate around. She cried on my chest.
“I lost it. I lost our house. I’m truly homeless now.”
“That’s not true,” I countered. “I will be your home, Ari. Sebastian and I are your home. We will build you a house anywhere you want. We can have as many as you want. We will give you everything.”
She shook her head, unable to believe me.
That was when I made a choice. This had to stop now. After this, I will head towards the dragon realm and will do everything in my power to make the royalties see her.
My mate should not live for another day thinking that she didn’t have a home, that she didn’t have a family to return to
I would move heaven and earth if I had to just to ensure that her suffering would end soon. That these miserable tears would cease and be replaced by happy ones.
“Wait one more day.” I assured her. “And I will take you back home.”
