Claimed By My Husband's Enemy novel Chapter 187

Chapter 187

(Ari)

98 vounters

I couldn’t explain the relief that washed over me by the simple fact that I wasn’t in the middle of eating or drinking right now or else, I’d have spilled them already.

I stared at Sebastian’s eyes and gradually processed the words I was sure he had never thought of ever saying until today. His ears and the back of his neck were all red. This was embarrassing for an alpha like him, but he didn’t take the words back and just stood in front of me.

Sebastian was built like a mountain. Tall. Full of muscles everywhere. The perfect example of an alpha.

And he just popped that question.

An omega like me? Someone this tiny? As someone’s boyfriend? As ‘his’ boyfriend? Really now?

I smiled. Slowly at first. And then I giggled before it turned into a full-blown laughter. The ‘Shitty’ that I was familiar with would have been extremely pissed by now. He would have turned all growly and corner me. But he wasn’t ‘Shitty’ today. He had stopped being one. I couldn’t tell when exactly he became just Sebastian to me.

“See? You were distracted. Mission accomplished,” Sebastian muttered. “There is nothing I wouldn’t do and say to keep seeing that smile on your face, Shorty.”

I wiped my own tears. It was the first time I laughed this much until my stomach hurt. “Did you really mean that?”

He shrugged, his plain white shirt stretching, emphasizing his impressive shoulders. “I’ve been ready to become your alpha for a while now. I was just waiting for you to also be ready.”

He moved as if to wrap his arms around me, but he seemed to have changed his mind. He offered his hand instead. He was observing. He knew I still had reservations about intimacy. He waited patiently until I entangled my pinky finger against his before holding his entire hand a little longer than I did earlier.

And I considered it a success.

With Aidan and this man, I could still breathe even when they held me. I wasn’t suffocating. I didn’t feel like craving death unlike what used to happen when I was trapped.

But when images of his twin brother flickered in my mind, I let go. That horrible feeling was back, as if there were invisible hands strangling me which forced me to put a gap between us. His wolf howled in distress while his eyes looked tormented once again.

‘Ari-”

“I’m fine. Where’s Aidan?”

“He went somewhere but he promised to be back soon. He said he’ll be taking you home before the day ends”

Home?

How ambitious.

He just witnessed me cry over the loss of my childhood home. He may be a prince but even with all that power, he could not bring back what I lost. No one was powerful enough to do that.

Aidan must have plans and I didn’t want to know anymore. “Can you take me back to the academy? I’ve rested enough. I

can’t afford to have these many absences. I still plan to graduate on top of my class.”

“I don’t think that’s the right thing to do now-”

Sebastian sighed. “You’re the boss, Shorty.”

Through the help of a mage, we reached the academy in no time. The guards looked like they were already expecting me. They opened the gate before I could make up an excuse about not having my I.D.

Classes must have ended earlier than usual because most of the students were in the quadrangle. They were also not in their uniform.

Nero saw me first. He was with his classmates, but he left them and sprinted to my direction.

“Ari, you jerk! You didn’t answer any of my calls! I was worried sick! Thank heavens you’re okay now.” He grabbed my hand and whispered to my ear. “Can we talk in private? I have some news for you.”

He was already leading me to a corner, away from the students, as he spoke.

Sebastian growled and separated the two of us with his hands.

“I don’t care if you’re friends, Nero. Invade Ari’s privacy like that one more time and I’ll crush your bones,” he warned.

‘A-alright. I w-won’t do it again. I just really need to talk to Ari-”

‘Whatever it is, I’m listening too. You can’t be alone with him.”

Nero was just as clueless as me when he asked, “What? Why?”

Sebastian crossed his arms arrogantly. He straightened his back, making him appear unnecessarily bigger. Nero was taller han me but beside Sebastian, he looked like a baby. “Because Ari is now my boyfriend.”

Oh, heavens.

Nero looked like a bomb just exploded right in front of him. His jaw dropped, his eyes were wide while the alpha who dropped the bomb stood mightily and proudly.

cleared my throat. “I don’t remember agreeing yet.”

“Yet,” Sebastian repeated, his eyes were shining again. “We’re heading there anyway. What’s wrong about declaring it in advance?”

Why did I bother talking to him? He was a hopeless case so why was I fighting back a smile? I focused on Nero and snapped my finger to steal his attention. “So, what’s this urgent news you talked about? Feel free to say it. We have no choice. This guy.” I added, pointing at Sebastian. “Is not going to leave anytime soon.”

‘Oh,” Nero answered, as if only remembering it now. “About that. Do you have a twin sister or something?”

My instincts were on high alert at once. “Why did you ask?”

‘Classes have been suspended for two days now because a fire broke near the dorms and the authorities were still investigating it. The other day, we were allowed to visit our packhouses. This is a secret, but when I returned to my

hometown, I saw a few mages on the road with a photo in their hands. They were searching for a woman who looked exactly like you. They even stopped my cab to ask me and the driver if we saw the woman in the picture”

My eyes narrowed. “And what did you say?”

Nero frowned as if I asked a stupid question. “Of course I told them the truth. You can’t lie to a mage. They have a way of knowing it with their mana. I told them I haven’t seen anyone as beautiful as her. So… does this mean you have a twin sister?”

Before I could oppose him, Sebastian’s phone rang. He wanted to ignore it at first, but it kept ringing. When it stopped, it vibrated many times, a proof that he was being bombarded by messages before his phone rang again.

He sighed. “I’ll take this first.”

I nodded.

Sebastian glanced at the alpha prince’s soldiers whom I had already sensed for a while now. They were everywhere, in civilian clothes, mingling with the students and the academy staff. Their royal badges were hidden with mana. Luckily, I could see their badges, or I’d have run by now.

Nero scratched his head. “So, Ari… about your twin, can I see her? We’re friends but how about becoming in laws too-”

I smacked his mouth before he could spout more horrifying things. I shivered. Just thinking about it has given me goosebumps. “Forget it. My sister is going to the convent. She wants to become a priestess.”

If Nero looked dumbfounded with Sebastian’s declaration earlier, now he was worse. He still looked dumb… and dejected. I batted his back hesitantly.

‘Don’t worry. When I see my sister again, I’ll tell her to pray for your soul. Anyway, good job not telling those guys anything. She broke their hearts too, that’s why they’re like that. Those men are up to no good.”

couldn’t see any reason why there would be mages who would look for me. I didn’t know any mages apart from the ones I aw in the auction house. If they were connected, then it meant I wasn’t safe here anymore. But what if one of them was Mr.

, the one who had Dani?

Can I really trust Sebastian and Aidan to keep her safe? To keep ‘me’ safe?

My mind was a mess when I started strolling. Nero moved on pretty quickly and was now yapping about his pack.

As I was saying, I’m planning to leave them as soon as I graduate… If we can’t be brothers in law, how about becoming pack nates instead, Ari? Can you adopt me into your pack? I’m a hard worker. I’ll clean your house. I’ll do the dishes. I’m also a good cook and oh, my goddess!” Nero wheezed. “Is that Prof. Laurent over there?”
