Chapter 50

Chapter 50

(Eh)

The cafe was deathly quiet when Creed and I stepped out of the ladies’ room. The customers were gone. There was a wat room near the corridor. They must have been inside. I did notice Creed typing something on his phone before leading me to the ladies’ room, but I didn’t know he was informing his pack at that time.

We either took a while eating or his warriors just moved quickly for everything to be taken care of. It was like Creed purposely distracted me so I wouldn’t have to witness how it happened. The broken chairs and tables and the splashes of blood on the floor was proof that the men who planned to kidnap me didn’t go down without a fight.

“How many were those assholes?” I asked Creed while he walked me outside the café. His eyes were alert as he wrapped his arm around my waist protectively.

It was Dale who answered, “There were nine of them, princess. Six inside the café and three more a couple of kilometers away from here.”

Dale kept a safe distance between us, about twenty steps or so. I rolled my eyes at him. “Are you calling people based on how they look now?” He grinned. “I’m flattered. Thank you. I owe it all to my mother.

His grin became wider. “Right, princess.”

Dale and two more men behind him who had the same emblem on their jackets had blood on their hands. Surprisingly, they seemed more polite than before as they lowered their heads not just to Creed but to me as well.

“Did you remember to keep two of them alive?” Creed asked as we sauntered towards my brand-new bullet-proofed car. It was the same color as the dress I was wearing today. Yellow. And it was just delivered this morning. That’s why I went outside for a test drive.

Two more will be delivered in the following days. Until now, I still couldn’t believe I’d get to drive a sports car of my own. I was only pushing Creed’s buttons when I went to the shop to look for a car. I never thought he would actually allow me to buy not just one but four of them. And they were under my name. I got to drive them anywhere I pleased as long as the bodyguards would follow me in another car.

Thirty-six days in their realm and I already had clothes, bags, and shoes that could fill a room, gold bars, and sports cars. Perks of being mated with an alpha billionaire. The best part? My mom was out of coma.

Now that I thought about it, I was now living a dream.

Who would have thought that the very man who brought me here would teach me how intoxicating living was?

“Yes, alpha. They are now in the trunk. Marsche will bring them to our headquarters for interrogation.”

“Good. Find out the person behind this. If they refuse to confess, you know what to do. I want their confession before midnight.”

The darkness in their eyes made me shiver. Creed noticed my reaction. “What? Don’t you want those men to be punished?”

“I just want them out of my sight. I’m severely allergic to assholes.”

“I wouldn’t have guessed. You were married to one.”

“That’s when my allergy began.”

Dale and the men seemed to have restrained their smiles while Creed suddenly grabbed me by the nape and covered my mouth with his for everyone else to see.

His eyes glistened with dark amusement when he released me. “You are so…”

“Adorable?” I tattled when he seemed lost for words… so he wouldn’t see just how much that kiss rattled my brain. “Hot? Gorgeous? Perfect?”

“Yes,”

I blinked twice and waited for Creed to add another sarcastic remark. He didn’t. He simply… agreed. “That’s it?”

“Yes,” he replied again with that smile that made my chest pound.

“Careful, Black. You’re getting soft.”

He chuckled as he opened the door to the passenger’s seat while the other guards and warriors slid inside the cars near us. Dale was now talking to uniformed personnel in the café who seemed to be the manager before I turned to Creed.

“Will you drive us home, Vicious?” he asked softly.

I felt a lump in my throat. Home. It was among the things we argued about just recently. But he let the word out so casually that made something warm unfurl in my chest.

I cleared my throat. “Since you got me the car, why not? Hop in, Black. We are going…”

“Home,” he supplied this time.

I nodded. “To your home.”

“Do you still feel like that? Like it was just my home?”

I couldn’t answer. I was quiet until he slipped inside. My heart was still beating wildly as I started the engine. Driving was the first thing my mother taught me when I was a little girl. For some reason, she wanted me to learn it first rather than any educational books. She fondly called me her passenger princess until I turned thirteen and I started maneuvering our car. Her husband opposed it, saying I was too young for it, but it was the one thing my mother insisted, that one thing she opposed since she used to always say yes to Percy.

When I started working, I bought a car which Easton borrowed and never returned again. When I married Landon, he refused to let me use any car. Even when I thought our marriage was doing okay, there were always guards on standby as if he was worried that I would suddenly leave him which would never have happened considering the number of guards he planted around me.

“You didn’t answer my question, Vicious,” Creed said, breaking the silence between us.

“I don’t know, Black.”

“What happens if one of us falls?”.

The car screeched. “What?”

“Let me rephrase the question, Vicious,” he said calmly. “What will you do if I fall in love with you?”

My voice trembled when I replied, “You’re developing a heart, Black. That’s dangerous.”

“What are you going to do then?”

“I’ll stab your heart.”

It was meant to be a joke. It was the only thing I could turn to before I got us both into an accident with his sudden questions.

But when I glanced at Creed, he was serious, so serious, as he stared at me and whispered, “Go get your dagger then.”
