Claimed by the Biker Giant (Maxine and Tank) novel Chapter 106

Maxine/Fixer POV

Talking about the loss of his mum and dad must have been difficult. If Tank says it was fishy, and something felt wrong, I believe him, which makes me wonder, was his father the real target, or a bonus death to whoever set it up?

Now I want to look inside those boxes, and like Tank, get this started.

“Ready to move to your new home?” Tank asked as he reached down to put on his socks and boots.

“Sure, won’t take long to get the last few things packed, you looking forward to moving out of the only home you have ever known?” I asked him, at least he’s here every day.

“More than ready, been ready for a few years, but had no direction as to where to put down my roots, had to be in town, or close by, nothing appealed.” He said as he started to throw his clothes into a duffel bag, not caring how wrinkled they’d get. I packed the items I purchased yesterday with a little more care; I still have them in bags, so I left the tags on as well. This would be the most I have moved homes in the last few months, like ever. Luckily, I don’t own much yet, and by the sounds of Jenny’s enthusiasm, I feel I will be out buying clothes I could never wear, and a few lacey items, she believes I should have just for Tank. I liked that idea. We will go shopping in the city when we can, maybe on her next three days off work, giving us time to get there and back.

I will see if I can get the helicopter to meet me in the paddock, take us there, and back.

Wow, did I really think that?

Did the money already corrupt me?

I can’t believe how easy it was to think of calling in the helicopter, which would let everyone know in a flash that I had money. Maybe can get the helicopter out the back, near the water

hole, no one would see me unless they were swimming. But that was for later. For now, I need to move, settle in, and get a lot done and fast. Jenny met us as we reached downstairs. Blaze and her bags were already in the van, Sticks had more than all four of us put together, and had to take hers in a different van. The members came out to watch us pack up and leave. No one had been told what was going on, and the whispers of what they thought was funny and outrageous. Tank helped me gather the boxes from the shed. There were four of them untouched since Grandpa died, and one that was untouched since Grandma died.

“Ready?” Tank asked as he climbed into the driver’s seat.

“Let’s do this,” I said, looking over at the people watching.

“Yes.” Jenny squealed with a clap.

We took off and drove down the drive. Prez didn’t come; he left it all up to Sticks to do what she needed to get settled in. He was stuck in his office again, doing whatever he needed to do. Tank would have to return quickly, more or less, dump and run.

The fob opened the gate.

There’s a keypad at the gate that I need to set up a code for us all to use to open the gate. That keypad can use his thumbprint instead of numbered codes. I just need to get everyone in my security room once I have it set up, and have them put their thumb and palm prints. I keep the fobs for guests, but don’t expect too many.

We pulled up at the front door and started to unload. Tank left everything just inside the doorstep, leaving Blaze to take them to our room. Tank had to get back. Blaze would stay, and I believe he would carry all the bags and boxes inside if we let him.

“Catch you soon, babe.” Tank kissed me and disappeared back into the van, down the driveway.

“Let me show you around, and then to the top floor, where you can choose a bedroom,” I said, and started the tour, leaving the top floor for last.

“What about maintenance around this place?” Blaze asked, as it was kept in good condition.

“I can keep the team that was working here for now; they are trustworthy, and if you don’t want them in your rooms, I can restrict their access and ask them to stay away. I will be meeting them tomorrow, gardeners and cleaners, who can work on a schedule I set. Tandy has already warned them of the new owners.”

“But you aren’t a new owner, just new at knowing you own it,” Jenny argued, causing me to laugh at how stupid this whole thing was, like I could have moved in here years ago if I had known. That part hurt Jenny too, thinking we both could have gotten out of home a while ago.

As we headed back to the house, after checking out the pool, gym, sauna, and BBQ area, I heard Tank’s motorcycle, followed by Prez’s. I had already asked Tank to bring the bikes out back to the garage, and soon they came into view, heading straight for the one I had left open for him.

“Need to bring my baby over here, too.” I whinged, not liking my bike not near me, where I can climb on and go for a ride at a moment’s notice.

“We can go back tonight, or collect it tomorrow,” Tank said, as Sticks started to give Prez a larger tour. He hadn’t been here before, not for lack of trying, but opportunities were limited, and those who had lived here in the past loved their privacy.

It was getting dark, and we had yet to consider dinner.

“What does everyone want?” Prez called out during a quiet moment after Prez’s tour of the place.

“Pizza.” Sticks called out, and after a few groans, Prez made a phone call to get some delivered. While we waited for the pizza, I corralled everyone to the sensor pad and had their thumb and handprint saved, giving them access to most of the house, some places they won’t have access to, but then, they shouldn’t need to enter the hanger, or my office. Unless I am with them.

The intercom buzzed, informing us that food had arrived, and Jenny fought Sticks over who was going to open the gate. Giggling as they tried to push each other aside. There were intercoms in all the rooms down here, and some on each floor, and I have linked it to my phone too.
